The little clip on mine broke, so i just keep the screwdriver in my pocket. The little clip only lasted me a couple days :( I went to put it back on, and it cracked, and fell off.. I looked at it, saw it was cracked, but tried to clip it on again, and one side of the clip broke off... Doh!

Darkseid 02-23-2002 07:44 AM

Gary F.: oooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh, n o w I g e t i t!:D I just realized that the clip isn't actually for the screwdriver. The screwdrver goes into the holder! Doh!

Now I see how it works!

Darkseid 02-23-2002 07:45 AM

Man, whatever happened to the guy I was talking to about getting more of those foam trigger things? He hasn't been here in a while. They came in the Hitec box, so somebody has to know how I can get at least two or three more of them?

marc 03-01-2002 09:21 AM

TO MR.Gary Fliegel

Where can i buy ur Hitec Lynx FM here in the Philippines?I know you have a manufacturing plant over here in Cavite.Do you have an authorized dealer of ur pistol here?So that in case it breaks down or needs repairs i could return it to that authorized dealer or distributor.I hope you could email me at [email protected].........THANKS!!!

Gary should be around in awhile, he should be able to answer the question a little better, but see if you find anything close to you on this list....

http://www.hobbico.com/hcadist.html

hope this helps....

Gary Fliegel 03-01-2002 11:31 AM

Marc, we don't have a distributor there. Your best bet would be to go to a LHS and see if they will get you your radio. As for the service end of it you would have to send it in to us if you had any problems. Hope this helps a bit. TTYL.

Gary F.

PS, MR.?? Man i must be gettin old, LOL.

Tres 03-01-2002 11:52 AM

Not just old, but slow also....hehehehe

sorry, to easy...... :D

Gary Fliegel 03-01-2002 02:04 PM

Ok super wedgy for you now!!!

rcracer100 03-02-2002 09:16 AM

DSC

I have a lynx3d with the spectra module and novak XXtra receiver
My question is how do i use the DSC
which way do the wires go in the plug and so on
Thanks

Tres 03-02-2002 09:27 AM

The DSC uses the signal & ground wires....

It should plug direct into the Xxtra as wired.....
My Xxtra has a label on it that states (SIG, POS & NEG)
Black being NEG.

Verify that your DSC cord is wired this way.

Hope this helps....

mwaeracer 03-05-2002 02:08 PM

Got a ? about discharging the nicads in my Lynx 3D. I saw where some one sd to discharge at 1 amp. What do you guys use that is a 1 amp load, and where did you get your connector to connect to the battery pack?

thanks, Mike

Tres 03-05-2002 02:18 PM

Most of the time I use one 1157 lightbulb...
It has small clips on it....

I NEVER drain it from a fully charged pack this way however.....
That would put a heavy load on the small gauge wires.

I pull the pack out of the radio tray and hook directly to the wires, bypassing the end connector.....

Hope this helps...

Gary Fliegel 03-05-2002 03:33 PM

I use a victor IQ unit for the 1 amp discharge. The 1157 bulb that Tres uses has a 2 amp discharge. I'll check out the proper size resistor to hook up to the pack to give you a 1 amp draw. Back in a bit, TTYL.

Gary F.

MikeMayberry 03-05-2002 03:58 PM

The 1156 is one amp (I think!).

Tres 03-05-2002 06:08 PM

If you hook both elements up, it draws around 2 amps...(1157)
the 1156 is a one element bulb....

R=V/A
9.6V/1A=9.6R

so, a 10 ohm resistor will draw around 1 amp at 9.6 volts...

but, the lower the voltage the lower the amp draw with the same resistor...

So get a least a 10 ohm 10 watt resistor.....

mwaeracer 03-05-2002 08:26 PM

Thanks a bunch. I love my hitec stuff I have. I'll never own another brand.

Mike

Darkseid 03-07-2002 04:27 PM

This may sound silly, but I'm dumbfounded by this grip tape that came with my Lynx 3D FM. So how do you put this stuff on. I see the one little section on it that has adhesive. But other than that I can't even figure out which side is supposed to be on the outside. The shinny side covered by the plastic or the dull cloth like side. Somebody who actually uses the stuff, can you throw me a clue here!:D Thanks in advance.

Also do any of you guys actually use the Auto Dual-Rate. If so how do you have it set up. Full steering at low speed, less steering at high speed or the opposite. I would like to play with, I mean, use :) the function, but I'm not quite sure which way I should set it up for it to be most useful.

newracer 03-07-2002 04:39 PM

I think the dull, cloth like side is supposed to go out, that's how I have mine.

I don't use the auto dual rate but it makes sence to have more steering at low speeds and less at high speeds. but it also depends on how your car is driving

Gary Fliegel 03-07-2002 05:14 PM

Its been so long since I put that grip tape on I don't remember!! If it was shiney side out, its not shiney anymore, LOL.

As for the Auto D/R that is something that you will have to experiment with to see how you like it set up or if you like using it at all. I only used it in my gas tourer where I had lots of speed. I used high throw on low speed and low throw at WOT. I can't remember the exact percentages tho. Try it out and see what you think. TTYL.

TSR6 03-07-2002 05:31 PM

Darksied - I have wrapped a total of 3 radios with that grip tape now, and i think the best way seams to be to start with the "sticky" at the bottom twards the batteries. Put the sticky directly on the radio, and then wrap upwards. I then cut off the exess grip tape, and used the black sticky tape to hold it up, and no problems with it coming off yet. Wrap tightly..

Darkseid 03-07-2002 06:20 PM

Thanks for the quick answers guys. I was just sitting at home holding the radio and playing with the features and notice that it got kinda slippery in my hand. So I can only imagine what it would be like when it 85-90degrees on race day!

I'll try both the grip tape and Auto Dual-Rate out and see how it goes.

Thanks again!

xxxs69 03-07-2002 07:17 PM

Question for Gary F. I'm looking at getting the Lynx 3D with spectra and novak. Have u experienced any problems-glitching or general problems and what kind of price range in Canada. Thanks

Tres 03-07-2002 08:04 PM

Darkseid: play with the auto dual-rate.....you'll like it once it is set-up.....

I like the grip tape on mine.....only thing is it gets dirty easily.....

But, I guess the extra traction compond on it makes it work better....lol

xxxs69: Gary should be around to help shortly....

Gary Fliegel 03-07-2002 09:45 PM

Hey!! No there have been no glitching probs with that combo. The great thing is that you no longer need Xtals.

As for the price you can drop Rob S in Kelowna a line and ask him for a price on that combo. I don't know what they are selling for up here. If you got any other ?? fire away. TTYL.

Darkseid 03-08-2002 09:09 AM

I got the grip tape on and it feels great. The funny thing is that I didn't realized that the little ring around the tape to keep it from unravelling was actually tape. I didn't realize it until I saw my son had pulled the backing off and was sticking it to stuff!:D So I got it all done now.

I did have one glitch problem with my combo. It was clearly a matter of where the XXtra was mounted on my Corally C4.1. I tried mounting it exactly where I had my XXL mounted previously(pretty close to the motor), but the XXtra didn't seem to fight off the motor noise as well as the XXL did. So a simple swap of position between my speedo and XXtra did the trick. This was a very small move since the speedo and XXtra were right next to each other. But, it was enough to clear up the problem.:)

Tres 03-08-2002 09:45 AM

Might try cleaning the motor or swapping it out and put the Xxtra back the way you had it with the XXL....

????

How do you like the combo?

Mobil1_2001 03-08-2002 05:25 PM

I have an 545BB in my MTX2 for my throttle and it will not center properly. It is enough for me to notice the RPMs going way up when I come off the throttle. All my linkage is setup properly (I think) and it worked for a long time, but my car got whacked on the track and I had to replace the gear set. I might not have installed the gearset properly. Should I send it in? Or is there something I can do. Thanks.

Gary Fliegel 03-08-2002 06:03 PM

If your car took a serious enough whack to do in the gears something else may have been damaged also. Send it in to us and we'll get it fixed up for you. Check our site www.hitecrcd.com and click on the custormer service link for more info. TTYL.

Gary Fliegel 03-08-2002 06:04 PM

BOOYAH Tres!! Finally made the big 100 huh, LOL.

Tres 03-08-2002 06:13 PM

100 post and the cool title now...hehehe

Mobil1_2001 03-08-2002 11:48 PM

Well what happened is I had a little bit of nitro left and I was running without a body to tune my engine, it died on the back straight, and I pulled off to the side of the straight. An electric racer (during practice) then, going full speed, didnt see my car and whacked it really hard. It bent the linkage and tore off the output shaft to the servo. Ill be sure to send it in. Good thing I have a spare 545bb so I can race this weekend.

Gary Fliegel 03-09-2002 12:08 AM

Ouch!! Definately send it in, something could be bent from that impact.

yokomojo 03-10-2002 07:50 AM

Will HiTec tx crystals work in a Futaba (same carrier frequencies, of course).

Thanks,

JP

Gary Fliegel 03-10-2002 07:58 AM

Our single conversion Xtals should work fine. The Dual cnversion Xtal will only work in our DCX's. TTYL.

Gary F.

yokomojo 03-10-2002 08:02 AM

You guys are quick with the responses - even on the weekends. Great service ethic from HiTec.

Wish the rest of the industry would follow the leader.

Thanks,

Joe

Gary Fliegel 03-10-2002 08:06 AM

Thanks for the Kudos!! We try very hard to be the best and help in any way we can. TTYL.

TRF_SPAIN: contact Mike at: [email protected] for any info....

TRF_SPAIN 03-10-2002 01:47 PM

Thank you very much!

Darkseid 03-10-2002 07:16 PM

Tres: Because the glitching only occured when I applied throttle, my first thought was that it was the motor. I cleaned the comm, and even switched the brushes. I eventually switched motors all together, with the same result, glitching when I applied throttle. I then swapped the positions of the receiver and speedo and added one more layer of tape under the receiver. That pretty much did it.

Theres really no need to swap them back since the layout actually gives me better access to the pots to the XXtra.

I like the combo so far. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test it in racing conditions yet. Its still a little too cold here.
