Gary Fliegel 01-16-2002 05:06 PM

LOL!!

Tres 01-16-2002 05:13 PM

The more the merry'r....

Wild Cherry 01-30-2002 09:58 AM

Gary my Jr 737`s are about 4 years old an I think one is starting to give up ..

So I`m in the market for new servo`s....

I got to check out one of your mos fet servo`s in a buddy`s truck ,it made some funny sounds ,but the guy swears by it...

I wonder what you would recommend to me for my racing ?? (off-road & on-road sedan)

:D :D :D

Tres 01-30-2002 03:59 PM

Wild Cherry:

I'm not Gary, but, maybe I can help also....

If you can do it, go digital....

I use the HS-5925 & HS-5945's......

They work great....

Yes, they make beep sound, but that is normal...

It's the sound of accuracy......

check out:

http://www.hitecrcd.com/Catalog/Servos/Servo_4.htm

But, it depends upon your application somewhat...

I use the HS-5925 in my XXX & XX4..
and the HS-5945 in my XXXT and T-Maxx...

If you want a more economical servo check out the 6xx's series....

http://www.hitecrcd.com/Catalog/Surf.../sprtdervo.htm

Hope this helps....

Gary Fliegel 01-30-2002 04:17 PM

Yeah, what he said, LOL. I use the 5925 for steering in all of my vehicles except my 1/8th. I like the fast response time. In the 1/8th I use a 5945, all that torque has never failed to move those tires. If those servos are a little pricey for you you can look into our 5625, which is high speed, or our 5645 which is the high Torque model. The main difference between the 6 and 9 series is the motor that they use. The 6 series uses a 3 pole motor while the 9's use a coreless. If you have any more ?? fire away, TTYL.

I stripped the gears on my HS-60. Are replacement metal gears available? And if so, where?

I replaced the servo with a HS-81, but the smaller HS-60 allowed me to modify a servo post and mount it to the chassis of my micro.

Tres 01-30-2002 07:34 PM

farn:

Yes, the gear set is available.

You need Hitec part# 56312

Try your LHS first, if they don't have or can't get them:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...1&I=LXN693&P=7

They show in stock.....

Hope this helps..

farn 01-30-2002 07:51 PM

Thanks, but I was looking for metal replacements. Otherwise, I'll have the same stripping problem.

Tres 01-30-2002 08:06 PM

I should read closer...lol

To get into metal gears, you would need HS-80MG or 81MG.

Which are not super micro but, sub micro servos.......

Have you tried to put the gears from the hs-80 into the hs-60?

Gary or Mike would know more on these servos as I don't use them.

Wild Cherry 01-31-2002 09:59 AM

Thanks for da suggestions Tres & Gary....

I gona purchase your HS -5924 servo...

C-u guys up here at Trcr sometime....

Ps ,The reason I decided to buy your servo is cus of the great customer service from Rctech.net & from feedback from fellow racer`s at the track....

Will everyone from Tacoma switch to your Servo`s now that I`m using them ????
Naaa, maybe we sould just keep this between us !!!

send Scotttie some decals & I will put -um on my ride`s....

MikeMayberry 01-31-2002 11:13 AM

WC- I'll be there tomorrow night, I'll bring you some decals!

What tires are working for 2WD stock. I think I have Pro-line stubbies still on my car from the last time I was there.

Mike.

Tres 01-31-2002 11:35 AM

Mike,

You stopping by to pick me up?hehe

Gary Fliegel 01-31-2002 06:33 PM

Thanks for the Kudos WC!! I'll be at wenatchee for the april Can-AM challenge, stop by and say hi.

Farn, we don't have metal gears for that servo. I would recomend using the HS-81MG. It should fit for your use. TTYL

Current draw

How much does the current draw increase in going from a 525 to digital coreless servo like the 5925? I race nitro on-road and like to use 6v 700 mah AAAs for my receiver packs to save a little weight. I am planning on using a standard servo for throttle and a 5925 for steering, and need to make 30 minute mains.

Gary Fliegel 02-01-2002 10:13 PM

You should have no problem makin 30 mins with those servos, you should be able to go 45 also. 60 min might be pushing it tho. TTYL.

Darkseid 02-03-2002 10:37 AM

Well, I'm finally going to get my Lynx 3D FM w/Spectra and XXtra reciever. I'm ordering it tomorrow. I just hope I'll like it.:D

newracer 02-03-2002 02:18 PM

anybody from Hitec going to be at the ROAR outdoor electric nats in Colorado??

I finally picked up a Spectra for my 3D, I got 5 other rx crystals so I am going to wait on the XXtra for now!;)

Gary Fliegel 02-03-2002 07:48 PM

First time I've heard of that race. The mod nats are going to be in Texas and the Stock nats are in Utah. Are you sure about the name of this race?

Darkseid, thanks for choosing Hitec!

Gary F.

Darkseid 02-03-2002 08:57 PM

Gary: No, no........thanks to Hi-Tec and Novak for putting together the perfect combo at an amazing price.

I always say that if one of the bigger names had done what Hitec has done(start the no crystal ball rolling) the major magazines would still be raving over it! Yet they hardly mention how innovative you guys were. Novak's reciever has even recieved praise for its abilities, yet again, Hitec is hardly mentioned.

I just can't believe that other manufacterers haven't realized that this is the wave of the future, and designed new radios without crystals.

But, you can be sure that when Airstronics or Futaba do finally do it, RCCA will fall all over themselves saying how innovative they are!

I know I'll certainly remember who pulled it off first.

So thanks again to Hitec and Novak for assuring that I'll never have to wait for one of those damned frequency clips again!:D

newracer 02-03-2002 09:43 PM

it's the on-road nats

Gary Fliegel 02-04-2002 04:52 AM

Thanks again Darkseid!!

Newracer, I won't be going to that. Due to our racing situation on the local scene I am moving away from on-road racing. Maybe Tres will be going, how bout it Tres?

Gary F.

Tres 02-04-2002 09:15 AM

I plan on making the off-road Nats, so I don't think I will make this one...

Maybe Mike will stop by and pick us up, if he goes???

I agree, the combo rocks. I have had a Lynx 3D & Spectra for over a year now, and have had the XXtra since December. The combo is great. At the Novak race, Jan 27, no waiting for clips was great. Grab what you can and dial it in. :D

vodo321 02-04-2002 06:53 PM

i am having a big glitching problem. it doesnt glitch real bad when im close and the antenna is all the way up, but when i move it down a tad bit it goes crazy. if i move away from it, it freaks out. its not the crystals because i tried my friends crystals and it still went beserk. i brought it to my lhs and did everything we could think of.

i think its my antenna. can i just slap on my friends hitec lynx am radio onto my fm one. can i buy antennas somewhere?

Tres 02-04-2002 06:58 PM

what radio do you have?

have you tried fresh batteries?

58007 Lynx AM & Sport
58006 Lynx 3d

vodo321 02-04-2002 07:02 PM

i just put in some new batteries.

i have the fm lynx radio. not the 3d. no digital just a plain old radio.

Tres 02-04-2002 07:14 PM

I think it is 58004, but not 100% sure....

To be sure contact:
[email protected] or call (858) 748-6948

newracer 02-11-2002 10:28 PM

I just purchased a used DCX and the antenna has been cut by about 3-4 inches, will this effect the performance? how much is it to get it replaced if I send it in?

Gary Fliegel 02-12-2002 05:04 AM

Thats quite a sizable amount of antenna to be missing. Your best bet would be to call our service dept. and ask for a price to replace the antenna. Their phone number is (858)748-8440. They'll help you out. TTYL.

Lynx 3D Auto D/R

This seems to be a difficult feature to set up! for me that is

Following the instruction manual it says first you must set the throttle position where the rate will switch from #1 to #2 that's no problem it setting the travel associated with #1 & #2 that I can't seem to accomplish.

After I chose my high speed steering percentage it still has to much steering at high speed and I would like to start out at full steering up to about 35% to 45% of throttle and minimal steering like maybe 10% to 20% of steering from 45% to 100% of throttle or at least this is wear I would like to start.

Help Please
driller

Tres 02-13-2002 07:10 AM

Auto Dual Rate:
This feature allows you to select individual high and low speed steering travel. First you must set the
throttle position where the rate will switch from #1 to #2. This is done by pulling the trigger to the
desired position and pushing the “Data” inc/dec buttons simultaneously. A “%” will show up on the
screen, this is the throttle % where the rate will change from #1 to #2, at this point, if you wish to
change it repeat the procedure again. Next, select the travel you wish to associate with the #1 and
#2 settings. This is done agter you exit the set up menu. Select the dual rate slide switch to the left,
adjust the #1 setting then pull the trigger until the #2 appears. You will use this feature to gain more
high or low speed steering according to throttle position. Important: Always allow the D/R setting to
“Auto Save” by letting the voltage re-appear on the screen before proceeding with any other
adjustments, this takes approximately 2 seconds.

Make sure and "Always allow the D/R setting to
“Auto Save” by letting the voltage re-appear on the screen before proceeding with any other
adjustments, this takes approximately 2 seconds."

This one gets me every so often when I'm in a hurry....

Hope this helps....

driller 02-13-2002 07:39 AM

Thanks Tres it was the D/R button on the radio handle I was over looking I got it now thats a pretty slick feature.

Thanks
driller:

Darkseid 02-13-2002 08:26 AM

I got my Lynx 3D/XXtra combo yesterday. Getting around in the menus takes some getting used to, and pushing those "Edit" and "Data" buttons at the same time isn't the easiest thing in the world, but all can be learn with a little practice.

Darkseid 02-13-2002 09:03 AM

Man do I love the little foam trigger thingy that was stapled to the manual. One of the things I have always liked about the KO Mars system, is the ability to change the size of the gap between the back and front of the trigger. I still their system is best, but the little foam thinggy is better than trying to do it with tape or fuel tubing.

The feel of the radio in my hand is like butta!(butter :) ) I didn't even need to add any tape. The case itself feels very, very solid. Unlike my last radio in this style(wheel and trigger on the same level/switchable between left and right hand operation),the XL2P. It was a little weak around the joints. The radio is a little on the heafty side. But thats just because I'm switching to it from a Futaba 3PDF which is really light. The Lynx 3D isn't any heavier than the other top level systems like the 3PJS, M8, Mars, or the R1. The XXtra also fit well into my chassis.

I should get a chance to try these two units out together this weekend if its not too cold.

MikeMayberry 02-14-2002 10:56 AM

That trigger foam thingy was my idea... thank you very much! :D

Mike.

Darkseid 02-14-2002 02:07 PM

Well thank you very much MikeMayberry!!!:D

I hate the gap between the front and back of the trigger soo much that I, at one point, adapted my driving style to completely eliminate braking!

Hey is there anyway I can order more of those little things incase I loose this one or one of my kids eats it or something!:D

MikeMayberry 02-14-2002 02:17 PM

Darkseid- I'm sure I could round one up somewhere if I had too.

Mike.

Darkseid 02-14-2002 02:25 PM

Well if you can round up one or a couple of them, I'd gladly take them off your hand. What would it(they) cost me?

TSR6 02-14-2002 08:17 PM

Darksied - make sure to scratch up the trigger with some fine...fine.. grit sandpaper or something. One of my 3D's, the pad just would not stick...

I haven't applied it to my current 3D, so i don't know if sanding works... but before it came off just while doing a test-run in my room.

Darkseid 02-15-2002 07:30 AM

TSR6: Oh, don't worry about that!:sneaky:

I like the pad so much that I glued mine to the trigger. Its not going anywhere anytime soon!:D

Unless that is, it gets a direct jolt to it like by that one guy at every track who likes to pick up everybodies' radio "oh, nice radio man, can I pick it up with my dumb fat fingers! Oh, whats this thing I just wacked off!"

-or-

"Daddy, daddy, daddy, whats this here for <wack> , uhhh....is that supposed to come off daddy?"

Those are the only two situations I'm worried about!:D

Then I guess I could just glue it back on. But, I would still like to have extras.
