I am buying a Serpent Pro and I swear by the KO 2174 for Steering but I have heard good things about Hitec servos so I decided to try out one for my Throttle Servo. I bought the HS-5645MG but now I am thinkinng I should have bought the HS5625MG. What do you guys think? I have a NovaMega SX12 RE Michael Salven Edtion Engine. I have heard that the faster servo will probably be better. A friend of mine is going to get hte 625 Servo and he said that he would trade with me.

Thanks

Mike Webb

I personally like having a faster servo for the throttle, make the response of the motor feel more like an electric. I am using a 5625 for the T/B duties in my XXX-NT and love it. If you want to trade with your friend, go for it. TTYL.

Why don't your servos center very well? I had a 615 and a 605 and neither of them centered very well. I can always tell if a car has a Hitec servo in it because it wonders going down the straight. I know it isn't my car because since I switched to JR servos the stearing always centers perfect now (I ran the servos in a TC3).

Which JR servos did you switch to?

8450. That's not the point, the hitec servos i had never cetered. They centered as well as an airtronics 94102.

Default Apples to apples?

The 8450 (.08@98in/oz) is a $115 digital coreless motor servo and costs well over double the 6XX series.

Let's compare apples to apples... I'll put our $90 digital coreless 5925MG (.08 @ 128in/oz) up against it any day. Guaranteed unbreakable with perfect 1us deadband centering and 384 in/oz of holding power.

Mike.

Thats not what i'm trying to say. For how much torque you claim the 6** series servos to have i would expect them to be able to center in a sedan.

torque and centering ability are two different things, they aren't related.

As for that apples to apples thing if you read my earlier post you will see that I said that a $15 airtronics servo centers as well as a $40 hitec servo. Sorry but your servos don't center very well. Just my opinion, don't take it personally or anything.

I have heard that the 600 series of servos don't center that well, personally I have never used one but have several 525MG's and they center perfect

you state you haven't had any centering problems since switching to JR, but Mike's point was that you also switched to a $115 servo as well, now if you compare Hitec's $90 servo to your new one I am sure the Hitec is just as good if not better. Likewise if you compare your old 600 series Hitec to a comperable JR...again the Hitec is just as good if not better

just need to compare apples to apples, not apples to oranges

I only paid $99.99 for my JR servo. Of corse that is going to center better. But, my standard servos like the 102 or even my JR 2750 center as well my Hitec servos did.

sure they both don't center very well, I guess

but my $35 Hitec's center perfect, even my 300BB's for $12 center fine also

like I said before I have heard of several people having problems with the 600 series not centering well, I think I remeber someone also saying it was due to the motor only being a 3 pole motor while others, like the 500 series have a 5 pole motor

it's just wrong for you to say "Why don't your servos center very well?" the lower end servos probably don't center perfect but what brands lower end servos do? not all of Hitec's servos have centering problems.

sorry for saying that but I am just speeking from experience, thats all. And many of the people that I race with have problems with other Hitec servos, like the 5XX series, not centering well. My Airtronics and JR lower end servos don't center "perfect" but they center as well if not better than the Hitec servos that I have tried.
