I actually like Heads up starts. IFMAR qualifying has a time and a place, big races.

Things i like about heads up start:

Program is quicker

Mixes up racing-
In Ifmar, you almost always have the same guys Qualifying at the top.. in Heads up, theres a chance one of the midpack guys can get out to the holeshot, and run a clean race and qualify higher than he might have otherwise.

Teaches people how to start -

Theres a reason why Starts in mains have deteriorated over the years.. its becuase no one knows how to start clean. They only have to start in traffic in 33% of their races..

+1 For heads up qualifying. Ifmar starts get boring and it's hard to tell if the guy next to you is on a faster or slower qualifying time. So you don't know if you should check up and let him go or push to pass him.

+1 For post-race staging table in front of the ramp. Just make sure the table is in plain sight and not off in the shadows somewhere.

-1 for splitting 1/8th gas/elect buggy. 4 makes a class but slows the race program down and honestly not that fun. I'd rather mix it up and run a larger mixed class. Maybe when there's 8 or more electric 1/8ths splitting the classes would make sense.

on the small track no keep them together. I didnt clarify but i was thinkin when the big track is done, simply so the elec can run 10-15 and nitro can run 20

I think the table thing is a great idea. Just needs to be big enough for the tx's really. Trucks and buggies can just be turned off and left on the ground.

I said i haven't finished worse than fifth...and that wasn't even the point. I was giving an experienced opinion about what's being used at Fear Farm...guess that's what I get for giving my opinion on a forum.
