Visually you can see multiple collector rings on the pinion side if you look at the stator. They act as a cooling fin and positive stop.

The new 2.0 has 3 silver rings on the pinion side of the stator.

Sounds like a sensor issue. I would change the sensor wire first and make sure that is not the issue.

General motor guidelines (all motors I have ever tested over many years). Disclaimer: This is with any quality motor.

1. Timing between 38 and 48 with 44 about the sweet spot. This is for motor efficiency.

2. Motor temps between 130 and 170 but a little class dependent. too little and you aren't working the motor, too much and you are overworking it.

3. Battery voltage at the end of the run in the neighborhood of 3.85/cell no load. Same rule as motor temp but flipped.

4. Minimum fade from top 5 to last 5. Too much fade you reduce gearing or timing. To slow up front you increase timing or gearing. All of the time following 1,2 and 3.

Getting these steps right beats any bench test other than checking to see if something is wrong with the motor.

Looks like a 2-3yr. old model. I have a couple of them in the "old motor" box. 21.5 w/2 line rotor. No comparison whatsoever to the v1 and especially v2. Excellent motor for it's day, however it's day is past.

What rotor would you recommend for this motor?
I run on 36’x70’ technical black carpet in USGT.

The 12.5 is the OD of the magnet. Stick with that size and get one with 4 bars on it. That will be a strong motor.
