Cup Racer with ABC Hobby Celica 1600 body.

Quality of the body is pretty nice. Quality of the decals is a ROYAL joke. Street price for these bodies is around $42.00.. luckily picked this up on ebay for $20.00.

Hello everyone we are having a Cup racer event at our track and would like to welcome anyone who can make it!

This class has been growing like wild fire at our track!! Details are on the race thread.

http://www.rctech.net/forum/racing-forum/358465-winter-2010-cups-bowl-event.html

I'm also taking suggestion as to rules and such as it's our first cup event.

Exotek, Skyrocket racing and HPI are sponsors so far.

Any support you can give (setup information, track suggestions, tips etc) would be welcome, thanks!!

Otherwise, you run the Mini rims that Tamiya designed with aftermarket tires. Problem is- if you have the Porsche you'd have to run non-offset Mini rims with a hub spacer if you wanted aftermarket tires right? Has anyone had luck with the optional Soft HPI tire?

Thanks!

I race indoors on carpet and I run the S tires. Awesome grip. They are wearing very well. I use tire sauce full on rear and inner half on front. After three nights of running at least 6-8 packs each night, I can say they are a very good tire..........

Thats Awesome. My folks used to have an Opel manta when i was really young. Knowing how cool it is now, I wish they could have kept it. Sweet bodies. Im a huge Group 2 fan in rally.

Thats sick! I have been looking for one for a while. I have an RS4 and RS4 Rally with all the trick upgrades and CF components. I remember that there were some cool "toon" bodies BITD. some Evos, Skylines, and Subies. Nice to see some of the old HPI bodies still fit as well.

To those folks running the ABC bodies, are you running into any issues? I am working on picking up a cup racer for playing around, but want to know about any fitment problems and or Must have upgrades.

Hey Momo - the biggest thing I know is that all the ABC bodies are the 'short' wheelbase, and most of the HPI bodies are the long wheelbase...so if you're coming from the Datsun 510 (for example), you'd need to adjust the rear wheelbase (ie, flip the arms around)

and the figure out which body post 'configuration' works best with you car

Hi folks,

I've recently finished my 2.8 RSR. So far I've only had the opportunity to run it up and down the street in front of my house for a bit with a 3000 Mah NIMH stick battery with rounded corners powering it, which fit perfectly in the tray.

I bought a couple of hard case 5000 Mah blue Lipo's being sold here to give them a try, but the battery compartment is made for batteries with rounded corners, so it looks like I'm going to need to do a bit of dremeling work to get the hard case in close to the drive shaft.

That should work for the inside, but how about the outside edge? Has anyone come up with a good solution that doesn't use friggin' TAPE to hold hard case Lipo's in this car? I would like to come up with something that holds the outside of the battery firmly, but doesn't become a major production to change batteries when necessary.

Thanks for any ideas or pix,

ianc

Questions??

Does anyone know if they make a wider/harder bumper for the cup yet? Like the P-dub or Parma bumper. I think anything would be better than the tiny soft one thats on it.

IDK but I would think that you could cut down a Parma to fit under your shell.

you might be able to fit a 12th scale pan car bumper in there...I believe CRC makes a long one that should cover most of the front suspension

What is the running weight of these cars with battery, electrics and body?
