TAMIYA F103 RM
#1471
Tamiya is playing the waiting game on f-1 bodies. Just like the classic tamiya jeep wrangler body. The yucky cr-01 with the shell has been out for a month and the shell itself is still not available The only part I need to complete my xc project. Does anyone know if the f103gt top deck will fit an rm? I also found that autographics of california has a bunch of f-1 decal sets for like 5 bucks on ebay. I ordered a bunch. Just search delawilson on ebay and you should get his store. The sauber shell would be sweet! I don't see why tamiya can't produce the decals because they already have the liscensing for their plastic models?

The upper deck for the F103GT should fit the F103RM.
The licensing contract probably states only certain models can be recreated?? Or else! Re-release those old F1 bodies with their decals !!

I just built my F103 15th anniv , and am going to race it at the TCS race in MD in march. Can anyone give me any advice on tires ? Which front and rears are best for indoor asphalt ? ( I know they have to be Tamiya foams ) and also do you turn & true these tires down ? like you would a 1/12 scale & to what dia ? . Is that even allowed ? Also any clues on where to start with gearing for that race ?
Any help would be great !
Thanks

Hey guys, i am planning to pick up a f103rm tomorrow, i just wanted to know if the body style makes any difference. Our lhs has three to choose from, not sure which part number is what, but these are the colored stickers that are on the box, red, grey(or white) and blue.
Any set-up help would be great as well, but i have to keep it TCS legal (so all Tamiya parts). Anything I should do right off the bat?

Im not sure why you think the F103GT upper deck doesnt fit the F103RM.
The F103GT upper deck was an old option for the F103RX and does fit the F103RM. You need the F013GT "R" parts for the two sided servo mount or the alloy servo mount from Tamiya. The only chassis the F103GT upper deck doesnt mount on is the F103L. I use the F103GT upper deck on both my F103 chassis and F103LM chassis. I use a stand up servo on my F103LM chassis.

Now those two kits are not listed as discontinued on Tamiya USA as of yet, but I'll bet they will be soon. You have to remember that rc champ is over in Japan. So they'll get the news first if the kits are no longer availible.(yes, even before Tamiya USA). Simply because, if they sell out all of their kits, and try to order more, they'll be told they can't because the kits are discontinued.
Thats my guess as to what happened. RC Champ sold out, can't get anymore, and are passing on the "discontinued" message that Tamiya JP is giving them.
Don't worry though, at least in the case of the RM, theres still plenty around from shops here in the states, and Tamiya will have a follow up with a new body style soon. If its a 15th anniversary your after, look around at places like Speedtech RC, they have them in stock. Not as cheap as rc champ, but they have them instock.

RC Champ has the L body kit in stock. I don't think the F103 in general is going away, but I think its getting another face lift with a new (rereleased?) "C" body next month. I wish Tamiya would make some sort of general availability announcement on kits though. My LHS has one in stock.
And yes, the 15th Anniversary kit was a limited edition production run. If you want one, find it and buy it. When they are gone, they are gone. Period.
