I have the 2005/hara kit. the weight of my car with engine, body, personal transponder and no fuel is 1778g at this stage. The limit is 1725g.

Is this limit with or without fuel in the tank?

I've added some CF parts to it tp try to get the weight down. I've also added the TI screw set.

I need to loose about 40g more.

Any idea on how I could loose it?

hey guys....a little situation has come up...and I need cash-ola....
my r40 2004 kit (the japanese edition with all hop ups)...is available for 250 plus shipping.....thats a big enough savings so you could still upgrade to HARA specs...save 50 bucks...and have the Ti screws and motor mounts that the hara does not come with....PM me...thanks...

Default Edition

Hi Guys,

I wanted to know the difference between the 2003, 2004, and 2005 R40 editions. I will be purchasing one very soon, and wanted to make sure that I will be getting the kit that is most upto date. Is there a different part number for each edition? Any help would be appreciated.

Thank You

Get the 2003 , by far the most updated.......lol j/k.

Yeah its kinda obvious. The 2005 is the most updated kit. Its only drawback compared to any kit , is the 2004. Where its missing the TI screw, but it is the most advanced chasiss so far and it actually breaks the mold of the 2003/2004 designs and goes into a newer design where your equipment is all more centered and lower.

Does the '05 edition include the carbon fiber shocks towers, and all the extras like mentioned on this site.

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=16289

scroll to bottom, it says parts included in this kit.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks Artificial.

So what is the difference between 05 edition and the Hara edition? There are so many editions it is kinda confusing.

The 05 is obvioulsy a upgrade from the 04, but recently HPI released the Hara Edition. Why cant HPI just make it easy and name each edition like R40 Spec 1, Spec 2 etc......

That way it is easier for people who are just getting started in the hobby.

05 and hara are the same. The hara is US based and the 05 is the asian based kit. Either way the same. The 05 can be found for cheaper though , so most go with that.

Ive got my Hara Edition at 1733g with everything on it as well.
Body / Personal Transponder etc.

Ive also got some added aluminum components that make my car heavier. The rear brace (by the throttle).
As well the rear lower suspension mounts are aluminum.

Ive got cf steering plate, cf lower suspension mounts , cf brake plate , ti brake disc , ti screw kit , lightweight digital servos , lightweight spektrum rx, cg arms (not sure if there lighter). To help reduce my weight on top of the hara being lighter.

I have lw spool that im going to build soon. Right now using the regular hpi spool. That will be a few more grams removed.

Im also going to probably get some titanium swing arms (dog bones) again not sure if there lighter but hopefully stronger.

Im also going to build a car with a tad bit more on it later. But right now im sticking with this setup , then im going to sell the car and build another hara later on. Unless they come out with something new in between that time , which I doubt they will.

I think they weigh it without fuel. But at club races no one cares really. Either way im just above legal and im going to make sure im right at legal or illegal most of the time. Ill just add weight where I need it after I get to that point.

Last prices I saw on them was like $219. So now they should be a little less. Youll need to upgrade quite a few items on those though.

LW 2spd
lw front shaft
lw rear shaft
chassis
upper deck
shocks (not needed but they are smoother)

The LHS near me has the LW chassis for $40! Not to mention he is an R40 finatic who doesn't believe the hype of the MTX4, Kyosho, or Serpent. I too have great results with my R40 as it is now. My real car has now been fixed up to be ready for long trips to the other tracks. Maybe next yr I'll head to the GLC and other events.

Hey guys got a quick question with the .8 2speed. I know the stock setup is a 1 and 7 pinion gear. Ive run a 0 and 6 with good results on my shorter track.

My question is I now have a 0 and a 5 pinion on the r40. Will this cause any trouble with the stock .8 spur gears? My friend believes I have changed the stock split which is going to strip 2nd.

I was under the belief that the r40 gearing is setup to be run with any pinion or spur gear without any worry of mesh.

Let me know. Also today Im going to show some video of my car with my new mugen clutch. I tuned it and ran the clutch around the driveway yesterday its amazing the difference.
