thanks all Jason
did you want the kit?......Whick is what I would do...Its nice to have both diffs to tune the car...I'm running the 4 gear diff right now....and in a low traction situation, the car sometimes spins...

heres the link for the kit...

More mechanical friction...more consistent diff action

It's to adjust the roll center for the front upper arms. If you noticed that your kit came with two of those. They are to control the height of the rear portion of the front upper arm. Also, the kit came with two different rubber grommetts (sp?); the piece that fits into the bottom of the shock tower which holds the front upper arm hingepin. With the two different rubber pieces....you have three different positions where you can mount your arm, stock (low), center, and high. Use the corresponding rear pices to adjust the upper hingepin to keep the hingepin parallel to the lower hingepin. Hopefully that makes sense. And there you have it. I've tried raising the roll center by adding one rear shim plus using the other rubber piece. The car felt quite responsive but had no grip. I also tried angling the upper arm as I was using kickup on the lower arm. I ended up going back to the low roll center. That seemed to give me the most traction. I guess on high bite tracks where traction rolling is a problem, using a higher roll center up front would help. AND THERE YOU HAVE IT.

well i have been reading this hole thread now for about ten minutes. there are somethings that i just have no idea what you are talking about but that is cool i am still pretty new.
i have a question i am getting an r40 soon, but the thing is the engine. i was wondering if i could get some suggestions on some really fast and durable engines. and i also was wondering if you can fit a .15 size in it?
i am really stoked about getting the r40. can't wait to put it together and to start running it. thanks to who ever responds.

For the stock R40 shocks...........I just realized that there is only 1 SHOCK DAMPER(piston) for you to choose from (the standard 2 holes).........what if I need some bigger holes or smaller holes damper....? (or 3 holes, 4 holes or 1 hole option...?)
What is the HPI optional shock damper parts #...? Thanks....

Before you go too far, narrow down some options about your engine....
(1) How big is the track you are running...(usually, need to know the length of the straightaway)

(2) 3 port, 5 port, TURBO or NON TURBO..?

(3) How much $$$ you want to spend....

You can choose from OS TR ($120) to JP Nova MAX ($400 plus) engine.....so, you have to set a limit......but 1 thing for sure, I see ppl use OS TR engine beat some JP engine........but I also see the OS TR engine ppl cannot even touch those JP engine ppl (due to the large hugh track)....

If you are looking for BIG BLOCK 15 engine...forget it

R40 will fit those new 12 engine block's 15 engine, aka SMALL BLOCK 15 engine.........it use 15 engine parts in a 12 engine body, it is a little faster, but a lot more expensive....but you can choose the new OS 18, or Sirio 15 for around $160 each, or the RB V15 or Nova Rossi NS15 ($300 plus)........but my opinion, they are not worth it cause your track or your friend will think that is ILLEGAL (actually, under ROAR rule, it is illegal.)

hey thanks for the very good advice. i do not know what ppl means though( sorry). well i really do not run on atrack right now because i live in germany and well were i live there isn't much around if you know what i mean. i have a stadium truck right now which is fun as he!! and i now am looking for on road car. i have heard some real good things about hpi and they seem to be worth it. but it will be my first kit so i want to do it right. also any advice on radio gear would be cool. i am looking to race when i get out of the army and get back to the states. so right now i am looking for more wide open running. money not really an issue. but i want a really good reliable engine. so if i pay 300 or more it needs to last well if i don't jack it up of course but i am pretty good with tunning. thanks again for the advice!
