Nice car FastHarry. Thanks for the great deal, by the way.

Where can I find the CF steering plate that you have on your car, thats one thing I was thinking I'd like to have.

I particulaly(sp?) liked the way the driveshaft go together, no setscrew to strip, and no way for the pin to fly out of there.

WOW, now that is impressive. I've got all the cf parts mentioned above on my car. The only AL. part on my car that is not part of the 2005/hara kit is the brake lever. (Same as yours.) I've removed all other AL. parts.

With my wheels (min foam left), fail-safe, body and personal transponder on the car, it weighs 1732g now, with my latest mazda 6 body fitted.

Oh, and I’ve also got the ti screw set on it. I’m also using a Lipo battery and voltage regulator, which are about 16g lighter than my 5-cell pack. (Same as yours).

I've even shortened all the wires on my car to save weight, including the servo wires. Dropped the weight with another 8g.

The only big difference (besides the AL. parts) between our cars, are the engine and pipe. I'm using the os.12 tz 3-port engine with the os T-1040 L52 pipe.

I’m guessing that one of these two components is adding all the weight.

Its good to see the comparisons in weight between the cars. I'll take some photos and upload it soon.

I posted this earlier when I got done with my Hara upgrade:

--

Ive got my Hara Edition at 1733g with everything on it as well.
Body / Personal Transponder etc.

Ive also have the aluminum rear brace (by the throttle).
As well the rear lower suspension mounts are aluminum.

Ive got cf steering plate, cf lower suspension mounts , cf brake plate , ti brake disc , ti screw kit , lightweight digital servos , lightweight spektrum rx, cg arms (not sure if there lighter). To help reduce my weight.

I have lw spool that im going to build soon. Right now using the regular hpi spool. That will be a few more grams removed.

Im also going to probably get some titanium swing arms (dog bones) again not sure if there lighter but hopefully stronger.

Im also going to build a car with a tad bit more on it later. But right now im sticking with this setup , then im going to sell the car and build another hara later on. Unless they come out with something new in between that time , which I doubt they will.

I think illegal weight is 1725 full race ready / transponder. So where getting pretty close to illegal weight. I know I could just remove my handle , swap the rear brace back to stock and my car would probably be illegal.

I also have a kawahara .8 2speed , which has an even lighter weight housing and comes with a shaft. I havent weighed it yet but I know If I wanted to go illegal then start weighting the car with weights I could , which I might end up doing , this way I can put the extra weight in certain areas to tweak handling and get more weight down low.

thanks

I can't wait to see how it drives......I set up this one completely different...30K in rear diff,60K in front...60 wt shock oil,#3 pistons...

Idon't think HPI is doing any more racing stuff either.....I'm going to finish out this year with the car...and then look at (possibly) another car for next year with the r40 as backup.....I drove a 720 the other day....its a sweet ride...with a centax thats amazing....

AMG,hows the Mugen coming along?...compared to the r40?..

I could post my subjective findings on the cars, but I will post the numbers.

Best lap/Best Race time.

R40 - 17.1 / 17 5'04"
MTX4 - 16.7 / 17 5'02"

Well not strictly equal the Mugen is a shade faster, 2 seconds, but not vastly faster either. One of the really good drivers at our track managed a 18 lapper.

Yeah you are right, 17 laps 5 minute 4.

It is as I always have said, the R40 is a damn fast car. The biggest thing I notice with the Mugen is it has much nicer rear end adjustments, a smoother drive train and obviously a very good clutch.

It is basically what HPI could do quite easily with the R40, a very refined car. However I am betting that the R40 will not be getting refined, hence the change.

What silicone wt is everyone using in their R40 for the rears? I've started driving mine with the OS .12TR and it does seem to be a bit faster, but a tad bit harder to control. I used the included oil for the front diff in the rears with the 4 gear mod which is probably been screwing it up. Still using the stock clutch and takeoff is pretty snappy IMO so no need to change. When I have the $$ I'll also join thet 05 Hara club.
