Havent really read back, about this light thing but the way i see it while lighter can mean less traction, in the event that there is enuff traction wouldnt lighter possibly result in greater acceleration and less roll/momentum (resulting in a more nimble car)?

It seems the other factor not being taken into account is what type of track one is running on. My home track is carpet and very grippy. Depending on that tires you use, a light car will either work well or traction roll at every turn.
One of our consistently fastest drivers is a big advocate of adding weight. His car handles like a dream and is somewhere around 1500 gr. The basic theory is to make the car stick to the track no matter what. Seems to work well for him for his combination of tires and springs.
Others are running minimal weight and super sticky tires and finish well.
The most important thing we've discovered is that the car doesn't have nearly as much to do with winning as the driver does. All of this super-fine tuning is complete overkill, and frankly those carbon shafts don't do a damned thing for you. A few grams located a few mm above roll center really don't matter that much.

Yes but we cant redesign the M chassis and move the motor in front of the wheels WE are talking about the M chassis cars not the Xevo. The Xevo is comnpletely different

Infact if im not mistaken the reason for traction rolling is too much grip in the first place :P
My understanding of physics makes me think that traction rolling is a different matter altogether.
The way i see it traction rolling is the result of centrifugal forces effectively acting on the side of the car and effectively pivoting the car around its outside wheels.
Although ive never tried it, this would mean that if weight is reducing traction rolling then and your car only traction rolls through right hand corners, it would be more effective placing weight on the right side of the car (and down low) to generate a greater counter moment to that created by the centrifugal forces.
Dont know if that makes sense to anyone else out there or not.

For those who would like a better description, the glue would be applied to the outside row of tread blocks on a Tamiya radial.
We do this and run into the corners at fast with the steering cranked hard. It does seem counter-intuitive, but it works.

hi, for big asphalt tracks, i found a lighter car (M03) was faster. for tight carpet tracks, seems the heavy m05 is a must, m03 simply traction rolls too much.
above is just my experience, others might have different results/experiences.
for now, the lighter m03 is in the closet, the heavier M05 is what i'll work on.

p.s. for tamiya rules racing, i think m03 with white springs front is still softer than m05 with soft reds in front. so maybe the m05 with its very stiff front suspension is less succeptible to traction rolling. thoughts?

A stiffer suspension set up makes the car more darty and less roll. Maybe less toe in the rear will stop it from hooking around causing traction roll because it transfers weight faster to the front. Also you can use the highest hole in the rear upright to stiffen up the rear. I never had a problem with traction roll. Maybe i'm not driving as hard as you guys, but then again, I am just running a silver can
