If you grind off the stub on the end of the shock shaft, and thread it into the ballend further, and your threaded collars were already all the way up... then you just increased preload on your spring.

Yes, your rideheight will be lower... but spring preload=bad.

Buy Top springs and run them. I have been able to get rideheight with both TOP and HPI springs with no problem.

Stop drilling a bunch of unnecessary holes in graphite.

The car comes with 344/306 so you need to buy 3 pairs of springs to have all you will ever need for rubber tire

Dave, if they did, you would be trying to open the Dremel and find another 450RPMs out of it by using your dyno...

Mike, did you notice a difference in performance when changing to the 1.9 internal ratio?

nah-- nothing i could feel. i ran the car successfully in stock non-boosted so i suspect it should work in other configs too. it is all about making sure the drive train is super free...

344 spring 19.2 lbs
324 spring 18.1 lbs
306 spring 17.1 lbs

thats pretty much all you need for outdoor asphalt

I run 344 fronts and 306 rears indoor and outdoor rubber for a while now and I haven found the need to even run any other kind of springs

the chatter-free front drive train setup is important. it can be done either way - spec-r parts or xray parts. i've also heard good things about hot bodies universals, but haven't tried them myself personally.

Spec-R or X-ray parts - Do you mean the CV shafts? Had a set of Spec-R's CV few months ago and it only lasted a pack till the cross joint broke. I thought the X-ray's CV shafts are a little too long, 52mm I recall. Unless I am missing something here.

Xray also makes 50mm shafts. But for the cost difference I run 50mm Atomic/Spec-R on the rear or my T3 (gear diff) and have had no problems with premature wear or failure =)
