Welcome to the SCT410.3 Wiki!

7.26.17 - BB
In order to run the recommended team setup, you need the following optional parts:
TKR6106 Orange LF Springs
TKR6114 Green LF Springs
TKR6018 composite shock caps (built to emulsion) OR TKR8702 Aluminum Emulsion Shock caps
TKR8027 Shock Stand Offs
TKR6051 8x1.3 pistons(drilled to 1.4mm)
TKR8104 .4 bellcranks
TKR8100 .4 ackerman
TKR5545B HRC Hubs
You also need the Aluminum C Block (others can stay composite)

What option parts should I consider buying with a new kit?
None are required but we recommend the following:

TKR5161 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “A” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5163 – V2 Adjustable Hinge Pin Brace “C” block, 7075 CNC, EB/NB/ET/NT/SCT) - Helps to improve durability on hard crashes.

TKR5545B – HRC Rear Hubs (L/R, CV or uni, SCT.3/SL) - Improves stability of the rear on mid to corner exit. Allows harder acceleration on corner exit.

TKR6146 - CNC Delrin Shock Cartridge Set

TiNi Shock Shafts
-TKR6004T (front)
-TKR6017T (rear)

What spare parts should I keep on hand?
TKR5020 – Hinge Pins (inner, front/rear)
TKR5516 – Front Suspension Arms and TKR5515 – Rear Suspension Arms
TKR5542 – Spindle Carriers - TKR5541B Spindles
TKR6009 – Shock O-Ring and Bladder Set (for 2 shocks)

Tips and Tricks

List of Vehicle Setup Adjustments and Build Tips can be found here. There are several videos and articles detailing the building of shocks, diffs, camber links, etc.

Use steering stops/limiter washers... more info here.

Setup Sheets:
Setup sheets for all Tekno RC vehicles can be found here. Please be sure to try our recommended setup. It works very well on most tracks.

Hinge Pin Insert Chart:

Warranty Policy:
Tekno RC is the only company in the industry that will give 50% off of parts if returned to them using the General Warranty return policy found on their website. The parts can be lightly used or completely abused, as long as the part is still being produced it's covered!

Piston Drills:
Some of our setups recommend using pistons that are enlarged. For instance 4x1.9 or 3x2.0. To drill the pistons we recommend the following:
GMK Supply Piston Drill Set
16PC Metric Bit Set Metric Sizes 2.00 to 3.00 MM.

I personally have not. But, a friend has. He landed nose down on one wheel while full throttle. Didn't break the plastic cross pin but tweaked it enough to where it was weak and wouldn't hold a gear in place.

My personal opinion is the truck is a beast. Get a al servo horn and al a+b blocks and your done. Springs and sway bars are something everyone should have as a tuning option, doesn't make a difference what brand of truck you drive....

If you do happen to break something, most likely your own fault with a tekno, then look at upgrading then.

Maybe when the time comes a m2c chassis, only bc of the steel plates for durability.

for those looking for packs on the cheap, I found some 8000mah Vants with the 2 bullet setup for $55 each shipped new.

http://atomicmods.com/vant-battery-7...ns-connectors/

work well, and have a 6 month warranty too if I recall correctly.

Hope all is well on the Tekno front!

Its actually muchhhh more expensive than the losi scte after you buy what comes in the scte kit stock and should have been included in the 410.3 couple hundred bucks extra for stock parts to be durable is pathetic imho
Can't recall the last thing I broke on either my SCT410 or SCT410.3.

Find a better kit at a better value?

Fire at my house? Make sure I've got the wife and kids safe...grab the Tekno by the rear bumper on the way out.

The battery I used was a Gforce 5000mAh 25C full size pack and I am hoping to use some of the MaxAmps 4250 mAh 150c shorty packs. I guess I will just have to put the pack in and see how the truck does for practice night. I really just wanted to see if there was anything that anyone had to say no way....don't put a shorty into a Tekno running a 550 can 4.5t motor or if it is really just the form factor of the battery.

Not being a fan boy here....but there really is no comparison between the two trucks. Then again, I prefer the original SCT410 to the 410.3....
no question the tekno is a beast, the metal parts are far superior to losi,I also run a losi with tekno driveline, ball ends. Its just surprising such a well built tekno truck would come with cheez ball plastic pin blocks and heavy metal towers. Come on really now,how much would it have cost tekno to include these in the kit, then to top it off they wana charge you close to $250,more than half the price the whole kit for the blocks and towers, shock caps?
The shock caps have broke on me as well, when the egg shell A block breaks at higher speeds, the arm yanks back and breaks the cap mount.
little parts like the delrin shock inserts and metal diff pins cost pennies to produce,id expect to not see parts like these in a basher rtr kit,but in a race kit?bad move imho. That said once you drop the $250 extra for stock parts it should of had in the first place, its a very expensive $650 roller thats reliable, durable and very fast Sc. smooth and feels like its auto steering in tight low speed corners, almost like its driving for you...lol callin it like i see it.

personally was a bit surprised they didn't at least include the front hingepin block like they did on the v1 after testing showed it was a weak point. I thought they would have continued no that trend.

As for caps never had an issue with the v1, to be honest the vehicle was quite durable outside of that change mentioned above, steel spur gear (more of a personal preference), and alloy servo horn.

Best way to help with costs is to look either on the chop shops or do packages to get the best kind of discounts.

I may be in a different camp now, but I would say I think you still get great value for the money with the Tekno especially for how it performs.

I personally would caution against doing it depending on your driving style and track conditions. At a minimum, I would:

- Set my voltage cutoff to 3.4V per cell
- watch temps on the 75C pack (last time I spoke with maxamps, the "150C" is just a burst rating, and for a continous rating they said half it)
- On charging see how the balance is between the cells If they have some spacing thats a concern.

For something lightweight, you could be on to something if you don't need long runtimes.

Outside of that, you may find more comfort in having a higher capacity and rated battery pack.

the .3 is still very new and having these little cheapy parts fail, we will all eventually buy metal diff pins, pin blocks ect if any real time is put on it. But if its fast we all will deal with it...lol

Default Shorty packs in SCT 4wd

I do not recomend that. I used about 3.300mah in our outdoor runs (5Min) and decided shorty΄s are enough an save about 100g weight. (Tunrnigy 90c). Motor (LRP Dynamic 540 4.800kv) was fine, punch was great. But with outside temperature about 25 Celsius the packs (3) all got blown up. So their livespan was extremly reduced. As another argument, if you run the controller in front of the motor (usual setup) the weight distribution gets wrong if you lighten the left side aditional per 100g.

when I spoke to the owner I think, I asked if they could see about getting 5mm bullet packs. Maybe give them a call and inquire as well if that interests you too. So far, they are the only one with these VANTs in this mah with bullets I found.

Default Lipo Question

Hi guys, I've had 2 6000mah turnigy nanotechs for about a year and a half, they have been great batteries but are starting to lose some punch, I want to get new batteries so I'm thinking about the nanotech ultimate which are 90c rated and also the SMC's Extreme Race Formula 100c rated, or save a few bucks and get the ones I've used before, I'm looking for honest thoughts between those 3, if it's worth the extra bucks for the "hotter" ones, thanks!

I'm running the hobbywing sct pro 4700kv...

for 4x4 SCT i would recommend get the best rated ones you can personally. If the nanotech ultimates are anything like the similar constructed IP packs that promatch used to sell with the 5mm bullets, and talking to some who have them they sound like it, I'd be game try try if 5mm bullets are a big thing to you. These I am referencing:

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Approved_.html

the IP version I loved. They were excellent batteries and loved the 5mm bullet pass thrus. Made making a 4S lipo easy when I dropped them into my truggy for long runtimes.
