Thanks Ray K for the pic/posting the info about your TC4.

I would rather find simple ways to lighten the tub chassis instead of buying/hacking a carbon fiber chassis.

Everything I cut was for flex purposes . The shorty pack reduced 100g on the left side ,so adding back the speedo and transponder is needed for overall left/right balance . The add stick on wt.s are to bring the car back to 1450g . those wt.s are more center then right side . A more centered weighted car will reduce weight transfer. The TC4 by design is a hard steering car . Being a stiff chassis designed for foam tire racing .

The original post of my setup starts back on page 797 , a lot of setup questions answered there.

What post number would that be? I run a different # of posts per page than default so I only have 300 or so pages in this thread

Default Exotek

Hey guys,

I was wanting to see if you guys wanted to pull together and put together a mass-mailer to Mike from Exotek.

I heard thru the grapevine that Mike was working on one a couple years ago.
With the TC4 winning more and more races and the release of the TC4 Club Spec. maybe we can make this happen with a mass email to Exotek.

What are some items that need to be addressed with the older TC4 platform?

Please feel free to add to the below list.

* A symmetrical chassis with equalized flex.

*3.0 quasi main deck with an adjustable, 7075 spine plate. No top deck. Optional lower decks.

*Lowered shock towers might be nice, but the longer AE shocks would then present a clearance issue.

* A more precise version of the steering rack.

* Gear diff

Exotek has made chassis for the other shaft cars like the Pro4 and the EVO so why not a TC4.....

Please let me know your thoughts....

I intend to build it up with some improved parts to increase performance and ease of maintenance. The car will then be raced in the 13.5T class of the BRCA nationals. A class which the TC4 used to do very well in but has essentially disappeared from to be replaced by more modern cars ( a back step?? Well I think so )

While I wait for the Diggity kit to arrive I have been working on the TC4 FT kit that will provide the base for the new race car. This is a car I have had since new when they first came out and I used to race at the nationals before moving to a sponsored drive with Losi (the dark side I know) then a break from the sport, before returning about 8 months ago.

To the TC4 kit I have converted to TC6 front and rear hubs plus carriers, the rear to allow matching vertical attachments for the camber arms inside and outside.

I have also got together a better quality bearing kit, RSD DCJs (they now fit) and a IRS front light weight spool. I also built up a set of latest TC6.1 dampers with RSD soft bladders, 0 rings and 6 hole pistons. I also plan to use the RSD dual bell crank steering system, floating Lipo attachment kit and a carbon drive shaft from Whip.

With these bits I think it's going to be one truly quick car and I can't wait to try it out on track. I will post build pics, testing reports and set ups as I go.

Many thanks
Tom

Tom are the below items a direct fit in a TC4?

RSD DCJs
RSD dual bell crank steering system

Well Red Line, I think diggity design has the tc4 market already, and I doubt they're not already drawing their dc4 v2 already.... As food for thought, I think the new tc4 design should also include:
#1: An anti-torque steer top deck like the A700 evo, and mobile front diff case.......
#2: proper tc4 dcj's...
#3: superthin(80mm) 2mm CF chassis...
#4: independent arm mounts for even more flex....
#5: A mobile Center driveshaft support for mod use, and more toughness in general...
#6: tc4 specific dogbone roller pins to stop outdrive wear.
Basically an Awesomatix Evo with short shocks.....lol....

You can also loosen all the top deck screws on the Dc4 le until you get lots of flex , and race it that way.... The Car will be much better for sure, and it won't cost a dime..lol...

Your probably right...

But I think it's worth a try.
It would only take 5 minutes of everyone's time to send a email to Mike from Exotek. He was working on a tc4 chassis two years ago so he already has some data on the car. Plus AE released the tc4 club spec so there are a lot more new owners in the current market place racing this car. Yes a lot of the cars are racing in the VTA class but there are some pretty competitive people racing VTA that may want an upgraded chassis and parts.

Just saying it wouldn't hurt to email Mike what's the worst that he could say is no...
