Yes, you need to install one, prefer the 4 cap version.

What's going on with the uk?
No v3's
Are we not good enough for hobbywing?
Kind of bemused by this as I have been a promoter of the hobbywing product at our club for many years now and many have switched to the extreme or 2.1 on my recommendation of a great product with great after sales... Now we don't even have sales :-(

Got a tracking number for my V3 from FalconSEKIDO.com. We'll see if they come through or not, but so far it seems legit.

Did you have any email correspondance with them?
I've had one email replied to in over a week...they told me I couldn't order from them until the calculated the shipping and that was over a week ago...
Now I've tried emailing the Canadian rep Cobra suggested but they haven't bothered to reply to emails either.
CRC seems the best but unfortunately they have hardly any selection of motors as of yet.

I think Hobbywing just don't want my money...
or perhaps they just have horrible representation over here (not counting CRC...they have responded on each occassion...they just don't have what I need).

Does anyone know of any stores with the V3 ESC in stock who are able to ship overseas (UK)?

So on the V3, the port that connects the programming box, does it run at battery voltage for a fan? What about the dedicated fan plug, what is its voltage? Anybody know the name of the connector that's used for the dedicated fan? I'd like to find some plugs and a crimper to make my own.

According the v3 manual;

External Programming Port Output
Direct voltage from battery without DC/DC regulating

FAN Port
