well this build has been rough, well the build itself is technically a non-event. sad 20yrs, over 70 cars, 25 tamiyas, 6th TT and i cant get past page 1. why?

chassis mold is incorrect. cant get teh bearing in front of the spur down into its slot. the slot is too small, u can push it down in there but it pops back up. amusing. that and the rear prop shaft isnt not fitted correctly. when built the ring cant go back on the spur fully. so even on a good chassis which i picked up last nite (tamiya is sendin me another chassis as well), it still rubs the spur on the chassis. remove the pin and all installs fine naturally. so tamiya is sendin me a prop joint w/the chassis.

outta curiousity i pulled some arms outta the bag and put them into their guides to check the arms. this chassis coulda been a pan car b/c u could not rotate the arms. in fact pulling 1 of them out required needle nose. toss that lot. new chassis here, but need to source a prop joint. hopefully tam gets 1 here in the mail 2day, perhaps 2mrw. no shops around with 1. ugh.

equally rough tryin to get a human on phone at tamiya. econony i'm sure...

also need to find a lipo that fits, same goes for f103RM, but at least i have that to look 4ward too. w00t

Iv toped mine out at 78.3KpH (GPS Tested) with 25/55 gearing and my 9T brushless and 2S lipo. It was fun for a speed run but motor/esc got too hot.

Ulti- As you know, Ray and I have built quite a few TT01's over the past several months and we have seen a number of them with the arm-clearance problem. We've tried sanding down the arm pegs but you have to be careful because the problem molds are done with some sort of reinforced plastic that gets all hairy when sanded with coarse paper (I wound up using a sanding drum on a Dremel). Best choice might be to ream the holders, but I don't have a reamer that size on my bench, so we sanded instead. The bearing thing is a new one, haven't seen that with either a regular or E car, but there you have it.
Gonna join us in Senior Spec?

Don't hesitate to ask for a loaner if your parts don't come on time. The loaners even TQ from time to time...

The Core-RC 3250 mAh will fit in it without trimming the knotches on the chassis

warranty parts came in. chassis was incorrectly molded at the bearing guide and the rear prop joint had its crosspin hold drilled incorrectly by just over 1mm. now i can build the car finally!!!

update

did tamiya have a bad run of molds? this tt01 i just got direct from them (the 75$ benz--my 6th TT) is the worst kit i've ever dealt with in terms of QC. the chassis and rear prop joint were already warrantied successfully. but the upper arm holders and both main bulkheads are in horrible shape in terms of their tolerance. even after checkin and scoring for all flash. i can still set my car at ride height without shocks!!!! complete with a 4200 sittin the car.

alas, more work to be done. granted now if i glue em in and make it a pan car, i wont have to worry bout down travel lol.
