Thanks
I prefer to mask out where the stripes (or whatever detail I intend) will be first, and paint the main body color first, as opposed to having to mask the whole body to paint the detail first.

For the racing stripes on my Camaro, I masked off where I wanted the stripes to go first. Then I rattle canned the main body color (gunmetal). After that I pulled off the striping mask. I then laid out some very thin outline stripes at the edges of the racing stripes by masking only the center of stripes and leaving a gap around the edges. I then painted that in white. Finally, I pulled off the rest of the stripe tape and painted the main stripe color (black).

I have seen some colors go to $12 for the Tamiya stuff. So even if its high its not that crazy. The Spaz Stix can be exorbitant too, but it is good stuff.

the old Z is sweet!

You put out a lot more finished product than me...I've been trying to paint an Rx7 for about 6 months..almost got it all masked. lol but will have to put it on hold again so I can get our 'team' lids done for the up coming Endurance/Team VTA race.

you don't take to long - you just got a lot of work You know once you start shooting a car, it only takes you an hour or so

For me masking is the big hold up. I dont know theres a lot of prep. I trim to fit first then wash the whole shell, then mask, then I will spot clean anything that I might have gotten a fingerprint on..........Yup then I will spray.
