I tried to duplicate E.J.'s setup at the Reedy and ran something close to it. I shaved almost a whole second off my fast lap. Thanks E!
Attached is my 2011 Reedy Setup. It's quite a bit different from my 2010 setup. I would imagine 80% of the tracks the 2010 setup would be better off.
The first day of the Reedy I used my 2010 setup and it worked fairly well. My lap times were decent and on pace. However as the grip came up my lap times stayed the same and everyone went faster. After feeling other racers cars, I concluded my car was under sprung and under dampened for the high grip level.
Lap times were a touch faster and the car was much easier to drive. It also finished the turn a lot better than my previous setup. I just needed to drive better.. LOL
Some things to note on the setup:
- 1.0mm 3 hole pistons
- 1.0mm hole drilled in the top of the shock cap
- After filling the shock, I seal the bladder with the piston all the way down. Due to the hole in the cap there is no rebound in the shock.
- Outside shock hole on the front arm
- 367 front and 324 rear
- Neg 2.5 Camber on the setup gauge, about Neg 1.5 on the wheel.
- Outside hole on rear hub
Anyway give it a shot. Part of the fun of racing is trying different things!

Start with this setup with the fallowing changes 344 front springs, 40 wt oil and 2* front and rear camber. I also run all my top deck and wing screws loose to get more flex out of the car. Been Running this setup at Jackson all year with very good results when the track is both med and high bite.
Light weight arms will also help the car some. I also run a yokomo gear diff w/ 20 weight shock oil

Thanks for getting me on the right set up. Do you know what size shim I should use for the battery brace? Thanks

I have been running EJ's setup with his narrow lipo chassi back at home since the Reedy Race and it is working awesome. both at our track with moderate grip when not sprayed and also last weekend at a parking lot race bumpy low-grip, I through in a mod motor and ended up taking 2nd in Mod Sedan.
The setup with the shock mod, and the dampening/spring rates/med high roll center.... great car..
Hey EJ......... Y.G.M.

I'm in the process of changing the servo around. Just double sided in place at the moment (To check fit and mark holes for servo posts) and it looks much better. I run the hobbywing 120a with the 4 cap board so space is an issue with the old setup. I look forward to running the receiver on the deck!
Hopefully some new chassis plates land in Aus soon for us to try (Exotek)
