Hey I guys I am putting together my SX8 and came up on one problem so far. I have assembled the steering rack and when I tighten the carbon fiber top plate down on top of it on the side of the servo saver then the steering rack binds and does not move freely. The manual did not show shims or anything, just the bearings, shafts and plastic servo saver. Do I have to shave anything down or something to free it up. I cannot leave the screw loose. Other than that the kit is awesome and goes together really easy! Also found the captured pins after I got the other pins already installed.

vnmsgt: i had the same issue when i installed the new hinge pins. when i assembled everything with the e-clip pins everything was free but to free it up with the captured hinge pins you need to either grind down the servo savor where the captured hinge hits it. what i did, i grind down the captured hinge pins thread because its a little longer then needed and ever since then ive had no issues! you could also reverse the captured hinge pin as well by having the hex head facing the servo savor but you would need to dremel out the bumper a little to allow for the nut.

hmm..did you add lock tight? maybe the lock tight ran down on to the bearing? but im not sure..i know someone was talking about how their servo posts were shorter then they were suppose to be? maybe get a measurement of the servo posts and we can get a measurement of one of ours to compare.

yes, i am talking about the metal shafts that the bearings slide onto along with the servo savor and plastic servo posts.. ha ya you can measure them top to bottom and we can see if their the same length. i believe a page or so back someone had the same issue and they measured theirs and they are slightly shorter then normal.

awesome! let me know and i'll get those measurements today! also if anyone else has those measurements could you please post them up! thanks

My measurement from the bottom face of the shaft that sets on the chassis to the top is 45.61mm. I did notice that is is sitting below the bearing on top and when I tighten the top plate down it is being tightened down on the bearing and not the shaft and looks like the reason it is binding.

You are correct we have address this problem in the new kits,if you put a small washer on the top post it will fix that problem.
