Anyone have a carpet VTA setup to share. New to VTA and thinking my TC setup is going to be way off.
zero degree c-hubs have been working great for me, and as a bonus they are interchangeable left & right. So I have that going for me, which is nice

Here's Squareheads VTA carpet setup. I haven't got a chance to try it out yet but I'm betting it's on the money

Anyone trying to resurrect this chassis? Any clones?
A couple of us still run them competitively in VTA and USGT.
One local guy runs his in 17.5 Touring when some really fast guys come into town and keeps up well.
The only concern whatsoever I have is I have to watch what batteries I buy to make sure they fit.

Would love to know what lipos you guys are using in your Type R's would like to finally get this off shelf queen status and on the track. I am presently in the market for some used lipos.

Thunder Power 4200 lipos fit with no issue. Power leads route up through one side of the top deck and the balance plug pigtail routes up through the other side of the top deck. Trackpower (the gold ones) bullet-style packs also fit as do the old Checkpoint packs (the red-chrome ones that were made by Trackpower). Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Mike

the Protek RC 5000 35C Lipo fits the car like it was made for it, in both width, length, and height, with the power points in the right place so no filing or creative wiring is needed. They are ROAR approved and relatively cheap, also at 35C are legal for VTA classes that try (emphasis on the try, if you win at VTA it probably wasn't because of a C rating) to regulate batteries for class cost reasons.
It is a tight fit though, just make sure it clears the drive pulleys on both sides and your good to go.

I had set up 2 of them 17.5 non-blinky just before they stopped racing TC locally. They are currenly RSs with 208 software and they are silly fast. It sure would be a loss if this car were just forgotten. A couple of updates: batttery sizing for modern lipos, gear diffs, better outdrives. Just some TLC to resolve the nagging issues and it would be a great car again. I have enough spares to last for a couple years.
