Gearing for a 13.5 motor
I have the 72 pinion spur gear. I'm running a 13.5 motor. How many tooth pinion do I need for the motor?

Ok so my LHS has one of these little puppies in stock in stock and thinking I might go grab it today. Only driven 8th scale and 2wd St and wondering if this setup sounds about right. Savox 1258tg retention pro 1.1 with 5.5r hooked up to my 4pls running the smc shorty?? Am I heading down the right path with setup to try my hand at 10th mod??

sounds like a good setup. depending on size of track.

i would say 6.5. but a 5.5 would be fine too.

Have already run on a small indoor track with an SMC 5.5 motor. You'll be fine. A 5.5 motor will be smoother than a 6.5. Seems like the even number wind motors, ie 6.5, 8.5, have more torque and will be punchier, than odd number wind motors like 5.5, 7.5. I'd rather have smooth over punchy, easier to drive harder.

Got my used d413. It haf a blown spur. I replaced that. Also replaces the screws that go into alum. The kit screws feel kinda cheap. Replacing the spur sucked. Had to dusassemble half the car lol. I ran 2 pacjs with a 6.5 in yhe shorty config. The csr felt planted and very stable. Sl@ps out a little easy. The previous owber said it is the tessman setup. I am running indoors on medium bite. The plastics feel cheap and the mix of 2mm hex and 2.5mm hex is annoying. The rack us sloppy. Was expecting higher quality.

lots of different tessman setups. and you will of course adjust for your driving style. if it steps out easy i would play with rear roll center first.
did you change the button screws on the motor mounts to cap head screws? i personally think that would help you be able to tighten down the motor better. and help save the spur. i will find out when i build the kit when i get it in soon.

I'm only running this car on a few indoor tracks right now though. They range from 2500 to 5000 square feet in size. The outdoor tracks in my area range from 7500 to 12000 square feet. I'd probably use a 6.5t motor & 23t pinion for those tracks.
