+1 on the consistency. Ball diff, unless you make them too tight, they'll loosen during the run.
Biggest issue with ball diff is diff slip imo.

I'm using a 417 one too and when I built it (and tightened it very hard) it was smooth as new. After a few runs tho it seems a little gritty but very consistent at least.
