Dino, this D5R engine sounds interesting to me and since I am hunting for new engine to replace my current Nova NSR5, would like to ask you a few questions.

1) Is the D5R competitive compared to say a NovaMax or JP?
2) What's the hp of this engine or possibly the torque curve? Better low end, mid range or top end say compare to the engine which I am currently using
3) If I decide to get this engine, most probably I will get from RC mushroom since there is no distributor here in M'sia. Do you suggest that I get the con rod as well when and if I purchase the engine?

Thanks!!

Rgds

Does anyone know if STS plan on releasing a .21 on road motor soon. Would be interested in trying one when and if they are availible.

1)YES
2)We don't publish the HP rating for the engine due to there is no standardize dyno for nitro engine in the world so far. I don't want to comment on other brand's engine. It may make me in trouble. I only can say the D5R worth you to try.
3)It depend on how you break-in it. If you break-in it slower, you don't need any new parts. Just remember keep the clearance between rod's bush and pin under 0.05mm.

thanks,
Dino

Yes,I'm testing the .21 on-road engine D21R. But I think it still need to wait for a while. It need to do a lot of tests. Then start to produce it.

Hi dino. Just read all 49 pages and ouch my brain is hurting. I have the oportunity to get either d3r or d5r at a good price from a friend(both new in box) and I have a few questions.

What are the best pipe matches for each engine?

Have the tuning issues mentioned earlier been resolved?

I have good experience with nitro engines but one reason I am looking into the d3r/d5r is to get away from constant engine headaches and have fun racing instead of battling engine problems.
Thanks for all the info

Thanks for your support.
I would suggest STS pipe. It is perfect fit our engines. With other pipes should fine though.
The present D3R/D5R already solved all issues. Now, D3R and D5R are matured engines with good reliability and performance. Just try one then You will know.
Not worry about headaches,I'm always here. Japan is next by Taiwan, right?

Regards,
Dino

Thanks dino Your support is one of the main reason I am getting the sts engines. Arriving friday are sts .28 and .12 d5r .
I am also getting the 6mm 20604L pipe for the d5r.

Yes, I am in japan and most of the tracks I race at are 45-55 meter straights but there are a few that are 65-75 meters (1/8th) courses. The d5 should fit in well! I have 3 motors to breakin this weekend..... Going to cost a fortune is fuel! haha!
Thanks for your help.
