Your saying that the arm will float forward and back? I would shim it or try mounting some new arms and lower mounts to see if the slop goes away............

That's about 6mm shim. I use the spacer from front suspension. I'm setting it with 3 - 3.5 degree camber and 2 degree toe-in.

thanks asw7576, I am ony running 1.5mm and -4 camber 2.5 toe in.

Tried running 42shores all round on the blue 1.7 springs 60 front and 50 rear, understeered big time. cornering radius was just too big..........must be the weather.

I was trying my hands at the RB éngine's tuning , any one has any tip fo the middle screw? On my v.12 Rody the middle screw can only be adjusted minimally or it'll either lean out or too rich.

Had a wonderfull run today, sun was scorching, finished a liter of fuel.

running on 40wt on all four shock,got back my steering, less understeer and 42 shore tyres. Tyre wear are even all round thanks to the correct camber setting BUT the rear tyres wear out much faster than the front. I guess I have no other choice but to true my tyres.

Finally tuned the RB v12 Rody for hot days run but once the clock strikes 5pm.......the car slugs on like an Escargo. .....well time to go home anyway.

Something is weird on your setup.... 40wt and 42 shore???

Having such rear wear problems you could went to 50wt or 60wt and go with 40's on the front and you have alleviated your understeer and uneven wear problems.

When I was running the MTX3 (still doing) the unique way we found for getting an even tyre wear was to put a 16/19 pulleys and a 363 tooth belt (this setup needed to true the front tyres 2mm smaller).

Indeed, was running 60 front and 50 rear yesterday and the uneven wear was horrible on 42.

Today changed to 40wt all round and 42 with rear and front shocks 2 holes from top.

Will try 40shore on 50wt or 60wt to see if I can get rid of the understeer.

I'd like to try the 19/16 pulleys but to get the side belt locally is next to imposible.

My mates R40 is my sparing partner, he was runing on 40wt and 45shore tyres without handling problem, shocks top most hole in front and back. So I thought I give it a try on my mtx3.

Wil try different combo next and update you guys.

Don't follow the setup of another car unless is a identical car you use. Sometimes acts worse. If you're lost on setup, return to a well know setup and try another time.

I am still messing around with the setup......sort of trying everything under the sun.

I have a setup which I like but unfortunately it's going to burn a hole in my pocket from buying 37 shore foams.....those fellas will last me only at most 5 tanks of fuel.

So to be a little on the economical side I am looking towards running 42 to 45 shores and it's possible setup combination as close as to my prefered setup.

50wt front /rear
Mugen 1.7 blue springs
40shore all round
front height 5mm/ rear 6mm
front camber 2 / rear -3.5
Toe +1/rear -3
castor 2+1 -laidback
Droop 2 front/ 4 rear

(need new beltings for front/check rear , elongated due to torque pull)

5 tanks of fuel for a set of foams is a reasonable life span (where do you start them? : 63, 64 or 65mm?). Maybe a little short, much of the duration of the tyres is the way you drive and the way you enter on the turns.

Other 'dirty trick' to get more rear tyre duration is to use multiringed rear tyres.

Which ride height you plan to use? Try with values of about 1mm less on the front and rear (i.e: 5mm front, 6 rear) just to try to get more weight displacement when braking. I assume the upstops doesn't bottom out (had one hell of weekend and were the f.... upstops bottoming out until realized that were the guilty).

Check with another body which gave you more steering. Alfa Romeo is the king of steering - old, but still have one here for going to technical tracks that need lots of steering.

Do you have track photos ? With 42 shore, I assume your home track is smooth and high grip..... am I right ?

Try 40wt front, 50wt rear ( or better yet.... buy 2 holes piston like in the rear and stay with 40wt front and rear ).

level ( -- ) the front stabiliser.

Are you using wide bumper ? wide bumper scrubs the road when you turn.

I have not taken pictures of the tracks photo but yes it is smooth and it's new too.

I will be trying different combinations of shock oils to experience the difference in handling with the same setup.

I have never run the car with the wide lower bumper but the smaller one instead. Not only does it scrubs but if there's pebbles on the track it'll launch the car a bit (our circuit is just beside the off-road circuit with the LHS right in the middle

Got two MTX3. First one (still on the 'stable') is of October 2002 one of the first kits who came to my country, Got another on May 2004, who goes regularly to the track at the side of their newer bro: MTX4.

Found different and sometimes I prefeer the '3' to the '4' (but I think is a matter of having more flight hours with the '4').

MTX3 is a great car, looking to the people who actually reads and writes to this thread and the parts box I have for the '3', I'll be driving for a long time too (prior to their retirement, probably still use for club races, saving the 4 for big races).

I have jsut one mtx3 and that too was bought over from a friend of mine who went 3R.

I have been running the mtx3 since November last year and like corse-R mentioned Track time is crucial to improvement and development.

Since MugenSeiki has discontinued production of a great car MTX3 I think it is wiser for me to move on like the rest and get myself a spanking new kit.

I'll most probably go the MTX4 direction.
