Looks like 3racing are going to do a "near all" kit with the parts they are due to release shortly

Can someone measure the diameter of the rear axle accurately? I want to know what size axle I'd need to use the left clamping hex on a project car...

thanks,

Ralph

I like the rear motor mount bit, they have really blinged that car up.

Default Good inserts for B3 tires + Parts to convert F103 to GT spec?

What inserts are good with the Tamiya B3 tires? I'm planning on entering the F103GT exhibition class at the upcoming TCS in Aliso. Any setup advice?

Also, I have a bunch of old F103 parts, I'm thinking of just buying the new F103GT graphite chassis and some other parts to convert the old F103 to F103GT spec. Does anyone have a list of the parts needed?

Thanks!

I bought the F103GT heat sink, 0.4 spur set, and special TRF damper as well as the old F103 carbon rear axle for weight. If you are going to be at Tamiya on Saturday, I will bring my F103GT out and see what we got. I am interested in doing the exhibition class, but don't know yet. I am using a Corvette body.

For the tires, I will be using B3s with green inserts. I don't think going with blue would be good since the weather will be in the 80s and blacks are way too firm for this chassis no matter what weather.

The problem I have with the graphite chassis is that it makes the chassis almost too stiff. It doesn't flex enough with that chassis and makes it impossible to setup well.

I am still trying to figure out the gearing for the silver can, but I tend to run black can for fun. What gears are you guys using for the stock silvercans? I am running with the Tamiya 0.4 pitch set if that helps. I just need a good starting point for it.

I think the Courage is sweet!!! I am going to buy that bodyset when it comes out. Hopefully I can tweak the F103GT kit that is out to work with that body. They said the body mounts were lowered on this kit, so I hope it is just a different set of mounts to buy. Once I get that, nothing else is going on that chassis.

Can anyone offer any advice on the gearing for this kit with a silver can? I am using the Tamiya .4 pitch gears. I just need a good base point to start from.

You can try to use 70T spur with the stock pinion first before moving on to lower gear ratio. The stock gear ratio is 5 (70 / 14).

Since you are running the 0.4 pitch gears, then you should be able to calculate your gear ratio. I don't know which gear you're running on (90++? & 100++??). Can't remember the exact number of teeth on the Tamiya spurs.

I run my car on 48 pitch spur and pinions, with the help of the spur gear adaptor. So I'm not confined to Tamiya's products.

Hope it helps!
