[QUOTE=OSherman;14310676]Im not arguing the fact... my only point is that the lateral motor is what makes it an EVO6. Such as the TBO4.
As well as the AMC Pacer, Gremlin, Edsel and the Aztec.... all probably looked good on paper to someone, just not the consuming public.

The difference per lap will be very slight, but over a six minute main it can lead to seconds off with the lower CG, and higher end of the run voltage, etc....

I run the Ewippler carbon main shaft. It is noticeably lighter than the aluminum shaft. I can say that I don't "feel" a difference in the car but as a matter of principle I always try to run the lightest possible rotating mass. I'm happy with the carbon shaft will be getting one for my newly acquired black edition evo 6 as well!
I'd like to try the Exotek lightened outdrives, does anyone run them? I center-drilled out a set of outdrives on my VBC and shattered one on my first run. I'm sure Exotek has a better method than I used.
I also drill 5 small holes in the aluminum wheel hex's for weight savings. Again, I know it seems silly, but everything I can do to lighten rotating mass is a win in my book.

Professor - I think I remember a post from you a while back (maybe even in response to one of my questions) regarding someone you used for anodizing aluminum. I want to have a few of the blue Exotek parts anodized black so my entire black edition is truly black. Can you send me info on the place you used and did you have to strip the original anodizing or did they strip it and re-anodize it?

Professor, not sure what you've done to lighten the drive train so far but the Wippler carbon shaft will definitely help. Some of the things that I've done to my EXO6 so far can be found on posts 1156 and 1187. I use either the Exotek or R1 Wurks lightened axles in the rear (can't in the front because I use DCJ's), the TB03 ball diff, a spool up front and Wippler's carbon drive shaft. The combination of all of these things make a big difference in on power forward traction and rotation. Watch the video of my car in post 1187. Notice the gap that I was able to pull on the car in second in just a couple of laps. This was on asphalt. Should be even better on carpet with smaller track and more turns.

I am going to keep my gear diff in the rear. I run the plastic gears, so that's a weight savings there. From what I hear the EXO/r1 axles are a good way to lighten the drivetrain, but not a great idea if you attend a lot of board meetings... I run a spool up front, and just purchased the lightweight TA05 direct drive outdrives and a couple of ewipplers drive shafts. I should drop a few grams off the drivetrain.

I am actually in the process of cleaning and shelf-queening the winning GT10 car and took a picture of my front gear box with lightweight goodies. I also ran Square titanium axles. They cost bank but are extremely durable and aren't so exposed that they fling grease everywhere.

hi guys, enclosed a little different carpet setup of my exo-6
had some problems with grip rolls, and went wider in the front and changed the suspension mount spacer.
After getting help and tips from a nice tamiya buddy, i managed to finish in 3rd position.
