I finished second at our local club with the TB04 with fastest lap time. I am writing a report to post soon

Default Tamiya TB04 Pro Review

Here is a TB04 pro Build and review. The car is really rather impressive. I ran it with a 13.5 brushless set-up and it was really on the money after a few races.

There are a few things I think I need to make it a killer club car (roll bars being the main one) but the kit is really good out of the box with a few adjustments. I will take it to a larger track soon.

Cool Heavy chassis?

What is the weight of the TB-04. If it's heavier than the TB-03 then when can be done to take off some of the weight?

Hi Max, my TB04 was 1490-something race ready. I'm certain that aluminum drivetrain shafts would help shed weight and reduce rotating mass. I'd be first in line for those parts.

I haven't been to the track recently due to other obligations but I do have a freshly rebuilt mini so that I can play.

For those looking for "MOAR GEAR"...(aka guys in GT3), I want to confirm that:

Part #51255 (39t Evo5 one way gear) bolts right up to the gear diff. That gets you to a FDR of 2.438, and with a 72 spur and a 52 pinion you can get to 3.376. Not quite enough if you run the Thunderpower motors I used last year. I have Evo4 17t pinions, but haven't tried to fit them yet which will fix everything.

Likewise, the spool will take the 40T gear if you want to run the #54125 direct coupler - which is a 10g diet over the gear diff wf/ steel cups. The aluminum gear cups are worth 3 less grams than the steel ones, for those of you keeping score at home.

I have it written down here that my 04 was 1465 race ready with a Protoform body on it. I am confident I can get it to the 1400g TCS minimum, but what I'm not confident about (scratch that, I know it's impossible to get to) the 1375 g ROAR minimum with a sedan body on it. I'm sure that's not what Tamiya had in mind for it, but I can wish, right?

Smile The mother ship!

Rod, I notice in the picture you are using the Mach 2 reedy motor, is that working for you? What is the timing on the motor set at?
Can you bring it to the track today? I'd like to see it again up close.
Thanks

Do i need to change carbon plastic parts of trf416 and reinforced 6 degree c hub instead of those pure plastic ones came from Tb03 to race?

depends on your track... on asphalt, i'd recommend keeping the arms plastic (stock), but change the c-hub and uprights (front and back) to the carbon reinforced ones...
