New Novak Brusless System

Brushless motors are rapidly approaching the complexity of brushed with all the different motors and tuning options that are being made available. Presumably, once sintered magnets are legalized, there will be no reason to run anything else, simplifying the decisions. As it stands now, things are starting to get a little bit convoluted.

Hey mate....
Kinda hard to compare. I've not seen the Nosram system, but there are 4+
4.5 drivers at my track and we can easily outpace nitro 2 speeds. We're all running mainly 3800's, all unmatched...I'd say it's pretty comparable to a 7t in decent tune. (Wouldn't be surprised if some motor genuis can get a 7t faster.. but it's definately moving..)
Got anyone else to compare with locally? That's prob the easiest way to compare and to see if there's a problem.
I've found even on our very large track (big enough that there are regular nitro 1:5 scale races), that the mootr likes to be round not much lower than a 10...
9.75 really isn't great as you lose on acceleration. Our back straight is a good 40m or so... I'd recommend you start at 10 and work to around 11 or so...
Remember that the BL trump-card is the ability to really rev out..
10.3ish seems stupid low gearing.. but it does get better when you run lower.
Just my observation - hope the issue sorts itself out for you...

I like to gear it for speed on the straight.
For a 4.5 start at around 10 for the FDR. Then gear up or down depending on how you compare in terms of straight-line speed.
Then - go nuts depending on how much battery capacity you have left in your packs. But be mindful that performance drops off when you gear it too low. Acceleration will suffer.
But i've found that if you can keep up with a 7t(or thereabouts) on the straight then you're about right. Yes yes, this is MY experience. If a 7t is just killing you, then substitue an 8t...

Hey guys i just came back from the hobby shop with my new 5.5 brushless system and have instaleld it as per manual and stuff like that. The brushless sounds very different from a brushed motor, bu my question is it has like 3 light on does that mean i have drag brake on. I want to know how to turn drag brake off.
Thanks
Jamie
