My Kinetic headache are finally over. Apparently I had a lemon from the get go. Novak replaced mine with a new one. To think I must installed and uninstalled Novalink 20 + times! LOL.

This is my first ESC with timing advance and boost. Prior to having one, I thought, if you need to gear down, I don't see what the big deal is.

Today I took my car for its first test drive with these settings

Ballistic 17.5
RPM Range 5500-14000
Applied Timing 30'
Boost On @ 300ms
Final Drive 6.1

My first thought.. The 17.5 with those settings was almost as fast as my GTB with 3.5! I'm at present repenting for my doubts

If you went to 50* applied timing there should be no doubt in your mind that its as fast as your 3.5.
I can attest that with 50* a 17.5 will run with most of the mods in a straight line, I tested this at IIC. As you change your "boost on" setting it will make the car easier to drive out of the corners, esp if corners are tight or traction is down, definately a option to play with. Also try some of the other acceleration curves for final fine tuning.

Yeah, I've never had any issues with Win7 x64, when it was first released 64-bit support was listed, now everywhere you look it says NO 64-bit support, yet it works fine.

I did answer this based on version 1 which I installed on my Windows 7 64 bit and had issues. I then created a Windows 7 32 bit Virtual Machine and installed with no problems. Also Novak themselves have said there is no 64 bit support.

Might go back and try version 1.3 and see if it works any better as it would save me starting the VM on my laptop to use Novalink.

When we use the word "support", we mean two things:

~ We have not thoroughly tested the NovaLink on these OSs, so we can't recommend them with confidence.

~ Tech Support is not familiar with them yet, so we cannot help customers who call in for assistance.

We do not have the resources to "teach" phone customers (or emailers) how to install and use the NL on the 64 bit machines. So, we are not recommending them for now. But, we are working on it.

Hi Guys,

I want to try a 5 turn Speed passion with my kinetic ESC, can I add dynamic timing to the ESC? What range and level?

I was thinking of running the timing between 13,000-33,000RPM and starting at 10 deg and checking the motor... Increasing the timing until it gets too hot.

What do you guys think?

I would start at 10-15 degree setting and avoid going above 30 degree as the motor current draw goes up exponentially.
It's quite easy to surpass 50 amp continuous draw with a 4.5 turn motor and 20 degree timing.

Typically one does not see the RPM increase in low turn motors as you would experience in high turn motors application (10.5 to 17.5).

Start low and make small changes, motor and ESC temperature should always be below 160-170 F.

I just got back from a day of Testing on my dragsters at the track (132 feet) and everything went as good as I could hope.

The Kinetic ran awesome and in the 2 cell car (10.5 Ballistic TSE motor, 2 cell MaxAmps 4200 and Kinetic) I managed to go faster then my current national record with a best run of 1.77 seconds at 73 mph

And in my 3 cell car (3.5 Ballistic TSE motor, 3 cell MaxAmps 4200, Kinetic) I also went faster then the current national record with a best run of 1.36 seconds at 106 mph~!

VIVA NOVAK Kinetic speed controller~!

Quick question about the 1s Kinetic. It says it's wired for a 2s receiver pack. Does this mean that no regulator is needed?
