I just ordered my Cup racer and am looking at Novak Havok 10.5t running 7.2v 6 cells. Is this too much? I'm not going to a track just out in front of my house or parking lots, and not going to run lipo.

My second option is the Havok 13.5t system.

What would be a conservative gearing for these set ups?

thanks

13.5 is probably all you'll ever need in a Cup Racer. plus you'll have more run time since you're not using lipos.

FDR 6.5 to 7.5. non boosted.

Travis: that looks pretty sweet!

There is a class to run them.. its a mini 4wd class which includes the ABC Genetic. Unfortunately rain is on the forecast....

Last month was the same and i drove out there and it did not rain all day.. so its a gamble.

...13.5 is pretty fast, ...yet I guess it's all a matter of perspective. And, don't lipo's usually get better run times?

Yes lipos have better run times. poster said that he did not use lipos. I was offering him better runtimes as opposed to the 10.5 he was considering.

Yeah dont run a 7700kv motor with 2s in this btw. The stock tire will in fact balloon up alot, making the car very skittish and roll prone. Also pegging a rock at 45 will just put a clean hole in the front bumper where the rock entered the body. Just FYI.

'sup guys, any info on a setup for rubber tires on carpet?

Also, I'm wondering which are the best 'race-worthy' options you experienced CR racers have. I'm planning to get alum. shocks, alum. hexes, alum. uprights - anything else to consider? Does the carbon upper/lower deck make it too stiff?

My personal recommendation: Alum shocks, carbon towers. Everything else is just bling. If you decide to go carbon deck, you might as well get the exotek..

This is my cup racer, with HPI x-pattern pro compound belted tires. It handles a lot better than with the stock tires.

Looks sweet Sniper! Did you put a sidewinder in it? If so, which one?

ah, gotcha, -didn't quite get what he was trying to say.

Also, love that 240z, -nice job. I'll have to pick some of those tires up for my CR'er. ...photos still to come (still in the build process).

Its the 5700kv one...

If I were to do it again, I wouldve put in a 17.5 or 13.5 turn brushless system as that's what most classes run
