Does anybody know how good the 3racing steering racks are as they work half the price of buying the tamiya steering and graphite steering link!

ive just spent the last couple hours reading this thread but cant seem to find the answer if anyone is having compatability issues trying to fit a standard size 7.4v lipo pack into the tub tray of the TB03? want to get one after reading how surprisingly good they go for a shaft driven car at that cost! what would be someones best bang for buck upgrade on this? steering sounds worth while by the sounds of it

Any standard packs should fit.... I run a 7.4V Yeah Racing lipo in and it fit easily...

The evo3 is an older car seeing as the EVO 5 has been around for a while now... the 03r isnt bad tho, comes with better components vs the traditional 03

upper tb-03 gear , lower TRF502x gear

finished Diff:

It feels really smooth and moreover now it can stand 13.5 with boost!

You need:
Tamiya 51438 TRF592x Ball Differential Gear Diff
12pc 3/32 or 2.4mm Diff Balls

--> file about 0.5 mm off of the end of the shaft from shorter diff joint

--> don't use the 0.5mm shim between the 850 bearings

have fun!
I wonder if you can use the TRF502X diff halves instead? They seem to be the same size, and best of all, made out of steel and looked much stronger. I am using the swing shaft protector on mine aluminum metal halves but it's still wearing like a mofo.

A 5.5t is probably good for a 6 or 7 min run at best and will place huge demands on the drive train and drivers wallet as things will wear out at an alarming rate.

If you already have the Ezrun 5.5t combo then gear it around the 8.5:1 mark and try not to run the car for more than 7 mins at speed otherwise you will cook it.

If you don't already have an Esc/motor combo then I would recommend something sensored with a turbo feature like the Hobbywing 120a or 60a v2 ESC and 13.5, or 17.5t motor.

Either of those will be more than a match for a sensorless 5.5t and a lot easier to handle.

You need LIPos that are the same shape as a stick pack.

The brick style lipos don't fit properly unless you dremel the chassis and put some packing in the tub to stop them from hitting the shaft.

The standard steering has a bit of slop in it but it's hardly a problem considering the cars market segment.

If you want the bling though pay the extra for the TRF/Tamiya parts - they are a lot better.

cheers

I run a brick style lipo in mine without problem. You do need to put spacers under the battery strap screws to raise the height, and I also took a couple thick plastic spacers and shoe gooed them to the inside wall of the battery tray to prevent the battery from shifting and contacting the driveshaft.

Nice work.

is that with the brick style lipos that are flat on the bottom or the ribbed ones ?

If it's with the ones that are flat on the bottom then I might give it a go.

cheers
