The Birds was wild! I went there with my RS and finally got to play around with the 189 software. Very cool stuff. What was wild to see was how people react once they start hearing one setup is faster then another. Seems like there was a run on Tekin RS's at the hobby shop as people were snatching them up as fast as they could once the hot setup was know. Apparently setting the motor to near 0 timing and maxing out the ESC timing with the 189 software was worth some time on the track. I ran that pretty early on and my car was much better. Again great stuff Tekin!

Yes that is what some of the "Labels" say, but I believe the can has 10-12 Plus what you get by moving. I'll see if I can get this confirmed.

I agree. I ran 189 max boost no timing in the motor in 17.5 and 13.5 at the US Indoorchamps and it was rocket!

Hey Randy,

Quick question, does it matter what gear ratio you run with this setup? I am guessing it does, but I wanted to make sure. I am anxious to try this out on my redline motor.

You're boosting pretty high now. Try this setup next time you're there.

Run the motor straight ut 0, boost at 30 same gearing. Running that setup offers great infield and out of the corner torque. Then the high boost timing get's you good top end rpms....
Hi Randy,

As the motor has already a timing of 12 and you cant change it, is it than better to put the boost on 18?

I think you';re making it more complex than it needs to be... just turn the endbell down as far as it goes, max the boost, then start short on the gear and sneak up a tooth at a time for best lap times. Always keeping an eye out for temperature, of course.

Most motors can go down to 0. However since I don't have a duo in my hand I can't say for sure.

For the 0 motor timing full boost setup, yes gearing will most likely change a bit but not drastically. As always check laptimes, feel, and motor temps above all.

I would just also like to say thank you and Congratulations to our entire team for such a great effort they put into the Snowbirds Race.

Special thanks to Jeff Cuffs for stepping up big time and taking care of a lot more drivers than any single guy should while racing!

Just curious, anyone know why its quicker set-up that way? I am gonna try it this week, but just curious why it would be so mutch quicker.

Apparently Boost isn't active at zero/very low rpm so if you have the motor set at zero you get more torque down low and then boost kicks in and you still have the R's of high total timing for the straight.

I was told to drop 5 teeth from the pinion when switching to that setup...seemed about right from the motor temps I was getting.

I saw more wattage produced and more RPM. I had to gear down from a 3.3-3.4 normal rollout to a 3.0 on a track 95 x 60. On a smaller track 70 x 40 I was at a 2.6-2.7 and ran times consistant for 8 minutes.

I bought that 17.5, it IS a rocket. Hey Wayne, you were right about the timing, I had it too high for such a tight track 50X25. Eight minutes of not blinking! Gonna see what happens when I really drop teeth and add more timing.

Has anyone tried the 0 timing and max boost on the 10.5 yet? I just got mine with the hot wire. Gonna try it this weekend in the 1/12 scale.
