I was very impressed with the performance!
I switched to 194 and got a lot of track time in this weekend for the Speedtech RCGT Showdown Grand Finale. As I get the RS setup more and more dialed it just amazes me.

This is a 17.5 class and the heats and mains are 7 minutes so your gearing may be a little different if you only have to go 5 or 6 minutes.

I started out with the setup I listed above, still geared to 4.0. I had lots of punch and was going through the radar trap at 31mph, same as all of the fastest cars. I came off the track at about 178°F though.

I geared down a touch to 4.08, came off the track at 172°F, no loss of top speed, and got an extra lap in. Still warmer than I'd like it to be, but I didn't have the next pinion I needed, and I was helping someone else get his car going so I didn't have any time to mess with it.

At this point the punch was just awesome. If I overshot a turn a bit and someone ducked inside I could zap a quick over/under and get it right back.

I'm ordering up some more gears and will gear down even further. I think the sweet spot will be about 4.2FDR. With "regular" equipment I used to run a 17.5 at 3.6FDR and wasn't as fast...

The improvement of 4-cell off the line start is worth the 194 update alone. I no longer looking like Barrichello did yesterday at the start of the Australian Grand Prix.

hi rcpoint i was standing next to you on saterday evening. I was the one with the pancar :-). I think you should tinker with your rs before you sell it on marktplaats.

I used a 4.5t novak but missed speed on the straight. Had 31.88 rollout with 28% timing on the sliders. Motor was 42 degree celcius. Great acceleration but the top speed was low. Top speed was 82-85 km/h and on 1/3 of the straight it was already full speed. I think i have to use more timing. Was told that on that track the touring did like 95 k/m h on the straight so i still have to get some speed.

I used dual mode. Next time i will use 40% timing and see how it will work out. I like the low timing as it seems it had lots of torque without being snappy, the accelaration was good and it felt just nice.

Gear it up!

I would expect to see cooler motors with 194 software vs. 189 in all classes.
Thanks for all the help guys, but i'm sticking to driving modified. I wanted to switch to stock because of huge mainenance effort involved in mod racing, but I prefer 95+ km/h than 60+.

Randy, I have geared that thing as low as 3.0 (FDR) but still too slow.

Rcpoint, my guess is that your esc setup is off. Can you post a screen shot of your Hotwire setup?

what ever you signed me up for kraig can't be good. hope you sent me a sponsor or two.

on a serious note got some good testing with the new ride (corally phi) and the tekin rs pro. tq'ed and won on sunday but car and speedo wasn't right. first week with the car. have about a month with the speedo. 13.5 duo

motor was around 160 with a fan on it. didn't seem to pull hard out of the corner. using the 189 program and the hotwire. i have the 194 just not installed yet. i found out i was over geared. i went down 3 teeth on the pinion and now motor temp's where around the 130 deg. mark with the fan. just didn't seem quite right yet. i went from 1 on the torque curve to the 3 setting and bamm was right on the money. tried the 4-5 settings made the motor hot and lap times fell off. went back to setting 3 and was very good low motor temp's. ran 4 tenths faster today than on race day. the car was more consistant also. thank's tekin for a nice product with the user's having control over the setting's. jeremy

What kind of FDRs and boost are you running? Your DUO is on minimum timing?

it's a smaller track. 100x75 i think. track is rc performance in madison wi. if you want to take a look at the track.

duo timing was set at 0
fdr was 5.30- 13.5 rubber tire's were rpo 30's
boost was on max timing
linear curve was set at 3 on the setting. or the straight line punch

hope this helps. jeremy

It is more like 75x36. 100x75 would be about the length of Trackside with a width almost twice as wide.

Just trying to help out. BTW, thanks again for the weight.
