You may want to look at the Hitec HS625MG. It's a high speed, metal gear servo at a reasonable price. I think they run $35-$37. It has very good torque and I think bearings, but you might want to check on that. They are durable.

I think you need a larger R/C budget, especially if you think you'll be in the hobby for a while.

The radio and servo will work just fine (it's AM and you'll get a few radio hits, and the servo is kinda slow but very durable) but the battery and charger won't do the deed.

Save your money if you have to, but buy something like a Duratrax ICE and a 3000 or higher mah battery pack (Orion's are pretty good). Or get some good used batteries and a charger/power supply here on RC Tech.

More $ up front, longer happiness.

Actually there may be some sort of a special on these at the distribution level. HeliProz (large mailorder helicopter store) has had them at $50 for a couple week now and I just saw SIR (Seattle Indoor Raceway) announce they had 'em for the same price the other day.

Great servo...I think it's overkill for the minis, but great servo.

This is screwed up,I guy puts money and time in to making a really cool body and them somebody rips him off by making copies. Its not like the REAL Chevron bodies are hard to get or out of production. And you even call the "Chevron mini monster" bodies.
Hisashi-san is a one man show and everytime somebody steals his ideas it just takes money out of his kids mouth. He does everything himself from making the mold to designing the decals to stappleing the bag the bodies come in. He dosent drive an expensive car or live in a big house either. Hisashi-san is a big susporter of RC events and really enjoys everything about RC.
To bad people like this guy are ripping him off.

anybody know where I can get a Tamiya Mini body... not the "race" body or the Rally body... the original body with the grille and bumpers?

the new race body is sectioned and has no bumpers... i like the looks of the new countryman from ABC... but I'm trying to make a replica of my real car

Thanks

The original M01 Mini kits had the grille and bumpers, but they're rather thin on the ground now. Plus..the mounting holes are different to the M03's as well.

Good Luck finding one, I'd suggest it'll cost more than a complete current kit?

You can just order the Chrome parts tree for the XB Monte carlo rally and put them on the Mini Copper Racing shell. Then again you might be able to order the XB Mini body shell unpainted, I ordered a few C Car bodies unpainted when they re released them. Ask what ever Tamiya office is near you about the unpainted bodies.
The ABC Mini Countryman is nice and comes with seperate front and rear bumpers. Its a pretty nice kit,if you dont have a Genetic you should try one, very user friendly adjusting the rear diff is a little bit of a pain, but that dosent have to happen to often.
