We could go round and round all day with the SCCA Run Offs subject, so LETS NOT!
I'll stick with my statement. TOO SLICK TO GET CAUGHT! The tech only know to look for past cheats and obivious cheats then on to drivers safety, not new cheats. Been to several run offs, if you must know.
Now back to minis....
The front camber modification does not require any modification to chassis and the parts are used for their intended purpose, there for they should be legal under the TCS rules, and I would challenge if I were caught up in tech.

I quit running TC and went to Mini because I didn't want to mess with all of that stuff. I also agree that "faster" doesn't mean "better" racing - at least not to me.
The funnest class I have ran, and the class with the most cars in our club races, is Spec. Yes, they are slow, yes, they handle like crap (compared to a hooked up TC, anyway) - but it keeps the racing close and in my opinion that puts more in the hands of the "driver", not the "tuner"....

It all depends on what you enjoy more - some folks enjoy tinkering with stuff, others don't.

I'd be all for a "run it like it came out of the box" Mini class...

Was wondering if any one has tried the 3R racing Ball diff? If you have what do you think about it and is it worth it to get it.

Guys, you sorta strayed a bit from the original post (you needed to click on the link to see it) which was to do with what you'd like to see on a 10th Anniversary edition Celebration Mini...Which is next year!

To give you my thoughts.

There's only one answer if you're going all out, a 'baby' version of this mother...The ultimate in FWD R/C cars

Oh and the 3 racing ball diff? You have to modify the chassis to run it. You have ream out a great big hole in the side! No thanks.....

I could never get my Tamiya FF01 & FF02 to handle as good as one of those works of art.

I've got.ummm...6 or 7 of them? I haven't counted. They're a really unique bit of kit. Which is why I'd love a baby version in Mini size. It'd be the ultimate FWD Mini by a long shot.

On the diff, why do you have to ream out a hole for?

All I will say is where do you draw the line as to what is easy/simple/stock verses having adjustablity/upgrading/performance. If we all really think we want it simple to attract people then no:
  • Adjustable Ball Diffs
  • Learning to stuff/shim the diffs
  • Rear toe-in uprights
  • Bearings
  • Upgraded servo saver
  • Oil shocks
  • O-rings in the shocks to lower the ride height
  • Learning to double stuff inserts
  • Using different compound tires front to back
  • etc.
But the original intent of Tony Gray's link was to see what people would like in an anniversary kit. Those that want a simple car can just get a regular M03 with non of the above.

Ok..not trying to start anything...but besides drilling out the chassis for the outdrives is the diff a good diff to use. I have issues with the Tamiya diffs all the time. Teeth get damaged and i strip the splines off the outdrives. IM not planning on running in a TCS race so thats why im thinking about this diff.

Ok, I just got the 3racing ball diff.

- Does anyone know how to get the outdrives off? Feels like they used a machine press to get that thing in...

Still need to test to see if it will become loose during runs.
