Aaron, if you are getting a WCE you will already have the spool and short arms. The only things worth picking up would be some HPI springs in Silver, Blue and maybe Pink as well. The 416 wins races on every surface. The only surface where it hasn't taken a big win is foam carpet, although I might be wrong...

Only one member of the club currently runs a the 416 in 540 PRO at the moment and two are getting 416 ready for next season. 540 racing is quite competitive (probabily the mose contested wth about 20-30 people attending each race night) at our club and I've observed that the high end cars in the class seem to perform more consistantly week after week. As always good driving it obviously makes the difference but i guess when your running a "controll" motor you try and gain any advantage you can. Myself however ran a TA05R in 540 (and lost the championship in the last race of this season ) which ran quite well againt the more expensive cars but I still lacked that something over the rest.

Oh, you champs is similar as ours which defuncted until 2007.
Do you want to know why disappeared?
The rich guys run with pricey matched packs, 4-5 motors each weekend due they run-in the comms and brushes "deeply" in water tank, for myself this is "money burning race" than "spec driving skill race".
About your TA05R lose in championship, i could tell our A main cars in 2007 were always Xrays 007, Cyclone WCE and TRF415mre(remember that time was still not exist 416), so i am full respect about yourself.
I could tell you even Tamiya Asia champion have to bring full option 415MSX when he's invited to racing in our place, also with best matched cells and 4-5 motors.
Anyway, i am respect about your serious preparation, hope for your better luck for next season!

Cheers for the setup Randy, I'll get it put on a sheet and on the site this weekend, along with my (winning ) 13.5 setup from the third round of Carpet Wars this weekend... it also has a bundle of steering, although I think there is now more too come from the driver than anything else, still not fully happy with how I'm driving a spool on carpet.

I guess it would be possible to get Fibre-Lyte to make one... I asked them before about a chassis for the 415, and they said all they needed was the dimensions of the plate to make it.

Worth a punt

Aaron, the results pretty much speak for themselves... and not just on the international stage, it goes very well in a clubmans hands. Veecee's right though, with a WCE car, you have pretty much everything in the box. Only things I would suggest are;

Spring set's - HPI Blue, Silver, Gold, Pink as well as the Tamiya spring set are pretty much all you need. I seem to struggle a little with the feel of the HPI's indoors, and prefer the Tamiya's for that

Roll bar set - Just gives you all the options, although most run Medium front, and soft or medium rear all the time

Some extra suspension blocks - more for reducing the rear toe-in than anything.

And thats about it... the car really does work very well, and all the tuning options are more than anything refinements.

It's nothing official yet, but there is going to be a new offroad track coming out in the OC area very soon, and if the building is big enough they are going to lay down some rug as well.

And if that doesn't happen, then we still have 1 other hope

Could one of you 416 guys out there please measure your front spool for me? I need to know how far it is in mm from bearing to bearing (where they rest against on the inside of the spool), diameter of the center of the pulley and the distance from screw to screw (pulley mounting screws). PM me your findings.

Foam is still run at all the big carpet races as the premier class, gotta practice for those races since that is definitely my weakest class.
