Sorry if this has been asked, but anyone run both the orion 10.5 and the novak 10.5 with a sintered rotor? How do they compare?

I wish I could help more but I have only ran the Orion 13.5 for 2 weeks and other than being undergeared it works great for me. It is quiet, pulls well, and runs cool. From reading I'm finding out I'm at least 2 to 4 teeth undergeared so when I get my new spur gears I will step up the gearing but otherwise I have had good results with mine so far.

i ran both the novak seemed to have a little more rpm but the Orion can carry a bigger gear, i advanced the timing on the Orion and its alot faster than the novak

Please don't go on my opinion alone about Orion's 13.5, that's completely unfair to them. It's totally possible a smoother driver will be faster with that motor, or that it's just not a good fit for what I'm doing. I really wish other people would try them and share their experiences. All I can say is that for me, it wasn't really even close to the Novak or LRP, and I tried gearing it all over. Also, mine is really noisy. The bearings are in great shape and it's shimmed like it was from the factory, so I don't know what the deal is with the noise, unless the fan on the rotor just sounds crappy in the slower motors.

I'm going to be trying an LRP TC Spec ESC soon, which I hear is much smoother, and maybe a little faster. I'll give the Orion another shot with that ESC to see if it improves any.

I have both the Novak SS 13.5 and the Orion 13.5. Running both of them with a GTB I have found the Novak to be more powerful. More specifically, at my local off-road track my Novak can clear obstacles that my Orion can not. It does not matter how I gear the Orion it just doesn’t match my Novak. Maybe you can get different results with another ESC but my findings have clearly favored the Novak motor over the Orion when using a GTB ESC.

Syndrome I can't say enough good things about the the TC Spec! Awesome esc; I don't think it's any smooother than the GTB, but I like the programming functions alot better but the thing that really sold me on it was the wiring of brushed motors if and when I go to a couple of big races this year. No extra wire to add & no reprogramming of the esc.
