I measured stock hexes on the rear with JC b5m rear wheels, and the car had the same track width as the stock xray wheels.
Fast_Ho_cars was there when we measured. I haven't checked the front, yet.

you need the -.75 fronts with AE wheels

So you mean to tell me, that all the pre mounted B5M tires I had could have been put to good use on my race day weekend? Smh

I advise others to do so as well with my posts..
I can't comment on the fronts, but regardless of how many times you tell me to waste $10 on front wheel hexes, I will measure them.
If it's only 1mm wider...I have a belt sander that can lop 1mm off the front hex in 2 seconds

Built my first Xray buggy last night, minus the shocks, and was very happy with how things went. I have plenty of experience with the onroad stuff from Xray, but pleased to see the quality is just as exceptional on this side of the house. Been reading & learning a lot in this thread the past 2-3 weeks, so thanks to everyone for sharing your knowledge & experiences. Really looking forward to playing in the dirt soon

Carpet vs Dirt
Now that folks have had the chance to run both, what's the consensus on med/high bite indoor clay? Is the Carpet much like what is said about the YZ2? Difficult to get setup and dirt is better?

i will say i was skeptical.. but the dirt edition is faster on medium to high bite clay.. by 0.3 sofar.. and thats with little testing.. just minor changes from stock setup.. i have worked with the carpet edition since it came out.. and get to a certain speed.. and cant get it past a certain lap time.. without making the car unpredictable..

on medium to high bite clay consistency is more of a concern than speed. The dirt edition maintains a more consistent lap to lap time than the carpet edition. If you run on a surface that has a big groove or is well prepped on a race to race basis, you might be able to run the carpet car. I would say the ideal car for the average user would be the dirt edition.

Thanks for the replies! I am putting together a dirt edition, and saw someone selling a carpet. Thought about having 2. Potentially running 1 at a local higher bite, tight, clay track. But, looks like there would be little, if nothing, gained. There is no astro or carpet near me. thx
