Default Best short course ESC/Motor combo for 200$ ??

My ESC is deep puddle fried, the reedy 3300kv that came stock with my SC10 still works but I'm cool with eBaying it and picking up a new combo. I don't really know what's best in the whole sensored/sensorless world.

I can't really afford to drop more than 200$ on the whole package. I've checked in an saw a short course setup from LRP and another from castle. Are the combos advertised a short course combos better?

Try out a Novak Havoc 3S combo with a 10.5. You should be pretty happy with it. Just stay outta water

The Castle Sidewinder SCT system with the 4 pole 3800kv can be had for around $100, and it has ridiculous bang for the buck value. They also have their 1/10 Mamba Max Pro systems on A-main's clearance right now, I saw them for around $169 earlier today, they have a couple kv's to choose from.

Hah yea. My girl actually fried hers. I'm gifting her my waterproof traxxas combo in hopes she'll not have any more issues and using it as an excuse to upgrade without catching flak

So why are some combos labeled for short course? What's the diff between a 13.5 and a 13.5 SC?

short course is big buisness in RC these days.
So when the put a sticker or label on a product that says "short course"
They will sell more.

there is no actual differance in the product. just the label ...

the "mamba max pro" is the same product as the "mamba max pro SC"

The SC may have a larger rotor, motor is likely otherwise the same.

The MMP SC only comes with the 2400kv SCT motor...so what if the sticker is different? The combo is different, that's what matters.

Have you, yourself, opened up the 13.5SC motor to confirm that it, in fact, does not have a larger rotor?

The Novak Havoc Pro/ballistic system is what I would roll with if I had a $200 budget. The combo has a few motor choices 17.5, 13.5, and 10.5. The motors are easily rebuildable and interchangeable. All excellent choices for SC. The castle MMP combos are excellent as well. I am just more experienced with Novak electronics with zero bad experiences.

I do see the SC added to a lot of combos nowadays. Like said already, SC is big business right now.

Well I get the rotor thing I guess. Either way I'm just looking to narrow down my options.

The only Novak 3s combo I found had traxxas in the title. Is that just referring to the batt connectors?

I just looked around and couldn't find a 10.5 havoc pro combo anywhere. Just the kinetic. What's the difference?

Check out GSHobby.com for the Havoc Pro 10.5 combo. They have it for 185.00

The Kinetic is a hella tunable ESC, almost too much in my opinion. Takes a very skilled person to get full use of it. Crazy timing advance stuff, boost, adjustable break endpoints....The list goes on and on.

not in third person anymore ???

A MMP is the same as the MMPsc version.
I never talked about the motor that comes with the MMP in various combinations

A sidewinder is the same as a sidewinderSC version.

Like most manufacturers do : put an SC label on it and the sales will go up..
