Considering the reputation i'm probably doing something wrong. Guess I'll see what they say.

I don't think there are, but just in case, are there any other sensored ESC's better than this one?

I Vote RX8, But there are other 1/8 Esc's on the market.

Im not gonna touch on which is better or not Due to the fact the competition is VERY New But Viper Did just release their New Vt8X within the last few days. I happen to know a few of the Test Pilots and they have had nothing but good things to say.

Drag,
I know your not a newb, ive seen you lcg posted up. Your experience welding and piping may not be helpful as rc soldering is much more intricate.
I have worked in hobby shops and m/c shops and found that past experience working in a more industrial field such as auto/plumbing is usually a hindrance. This is partially because of the much larger and heavier application of skillsets. RC soldering is a totally new skill, though I have found it fairly easy using the correct equipment.

Ive been using a Weller 60watt adjustable soldering station for last 10 yrs. It has more than enough wattage and I even power it down a little once it is heated up. You should to use a small chisel tip rather than a pencil tip. Ive found that weller was much more efficient than the stand alone soldering irons even at 60 watts.

like everyone says use flux application on the wires and tip. you can easily clean the tip by wiping it on a damp sponge, (comes with the Weller)

Further about the wiring, I have used long wires from the factory w/o any issues. I do bundle the wires with zip ties to prevent movement and have cut them down for neatness.

Even then with all the precaution I have had esc melt downs. It must be the nature of the game, a lot of voltage going through the esc. My trusty Mamba Max Pro just nuked after two years of good service. I probably did something wrong, Like failing to disconnect the battery wire after running the car; (

I hope this helps, and good luck soldering.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 3 times, and I order a Viper VTX8 Hopefully that's a better ESC...
Hope your esc goes up in smoke. LOL

What kind of truck, motor, and battery combo are you running which is causing so many failures? And what type of driving are you doing bashing or track racing?

I'm glad I quit running the Tekin rx8's after seeing how many people have problem after problem with them. I have been running Speed Passion Silver Arrow V2 escs for quite a while now and never once had an issue. I've bought at least 10-12 of them most likely and every one of them has performed perfect. I just ordered a couple of the HW 150amp escs to try out for the hell of it. I've read nothing but great reviews on them so figured I would give it a shot.

Well........most of the people running RX8's do NOT have any problems.

I'm on my 8th RX8 at the moment and currently running 4 of them in a SC10 4x4, Durango DESC410V2 and 2 x Serpent 811Be on 4S......never had a problem, glitch, hick-up...........

Been racing with Tekin since -91 and will continue to do so

Couldn't be happier

I'm guessing a lot of the failures are due to crappy wiring, wrong gearing, bashing, too much timing, not high enough C rated packs for the amp draw..etc... I know there are a ton of variables that go into a perfect working setup that is reliable.
