Boost=electronic timing advance, this is the most efficient way to drive a brushless motor, the timing is applied incrementally to keep peak performance from 0 rpm to max rev limit, the issue here is that a 17.5 motor for instance, is now as quick as a 13.5 motor for 1s, and more like a mild mod motor with 2s.

Timing= a mechanical adjustment to the endbell of a motor like in the brushed motors of days gone by. This method of timing advance will also increase performance to a point, but in doing so the motor will produce more heat, and reduce durability over time.

Blinky mode refers to no electronic timing advance.
Open esc = boosted, or modified.

I LOVE 1/12 scale and will be looking to race it!! I have a prior committment for the end of April however. I WOULD like to race 1/12 scale on Wednesday nights at TQ if we can get some guys to go there. I know Tony Neisenger may be available at TQ Wed's. I'm IN---just ordered my 1/12 lipo battery so I can use the Tekin in my 1/12 scale car. I think I was the ONLY 1/12 in the A main without the "magic esc" and it really hurt on the long sweepers and back straight. Maybe Eric P could be up for Wed nights on the carpet?? I'd love to race these babies and will be prepared to do so by next week.

TQ wasnt using a "magic esc"

Some of us were talking of maybe a 10.5 class. Something fast and fun for club racing on the ultra stuck carpet. Anyone interested?

Everyone already has 13.5 motors--and with the Tekin RS or PRo esc--their plenty fast. they were doing low 9 second laps at TQ--with a little more time--I"m sure they will be in the 8's. That's quicker than the 4 wheel drive sedan cars were going isn't it? Should be plenty fast enough for a lot of fun/tight racing.
Let's see if we can get all the 1/12 cars to come out on Wed nights or Saturdays.

True, but he was using a 4cell nimh pack. But it didn't seem like he had any advantage with the extra voltage.

I’ll be there and I’ll have my cars with me. This is going to be my first club race. So far I have only worked on my TC car at the Tamiya track on Saturdays. My 12r5 has been seating on the shelf since I put it together. Whit some help from the experienced guys I would love to get the 1/12th scale going too.

I was running and Orion ESC with 4 cell, I had pretty much the same power as the magic ESC with lipo, but runtime was an issue for me..
I was completely out of power in the last minute.....
Anyways, my magic ESC is in the mail....
I think that running 10.5 with magic ESC will make the racing so good and fast (I think that will be the same as running any mod motor), we have to take the advantage that we have a track that is capable of handling the speed of this little cars....

[QUOTE=RAL;7235304]TQ wasnt using a "magic esc"

I qualified 4th and finished 3rd in 17.5 with a GTB on a 1 cell. It was down on power but still competative? RS will be in next race.

Hey gang I picked up a 1/12 scale by Calandra. I work on it as soon as I can. Wed. nights at TQ are more doable for me. Lightfoot, the company you bought that Porsche body does have a Toyota version also.
