Classic 1/12th
#1

Just tought I would start a classic 1/12th thread to see if anybody is interested in discussing them here on this forum.
My first car was a Jerobee that was a hand me down from my Dad.Still have it. My dad was running a hand made chassis made by somebody from Stout Field in Indiana.
I currentlly run a Kyosho Plazma, using LiFe and silver can 540. Thats the spec we use to run our classic 1/12th scale cars. Our small group includes My Plazma,a Tamiya RM3,Mugen K2-X Cosmic,Kyosho Fanthom and a L3. The L3 is the newest of the cars but he runs saddle pack LiFe so all of the cars are rather close.
We use classic bodies and enjoy it,the classic bodies are less twitchy and look a little better.
We are in Japan so most of our cars are Japanese but we will have a Delta running with us soon.
So anybody interested in talking about classics 1/12th,dont be shy.

There are alot of nice bodies out there still for 1/12th if you are interested in running a classic. Not Kyosho bodies but some just as nice such as Group 5 cars.

Most of those NIB cars on Ebay have been there for months if not years, most rollers go for alot less.Just last week a Plazma ended for $10

I first started racing 1/12th cars many years ago when my Mum bought me a second hand Lightning 2000. I can remember that it was made from blue fibreglass. I had an old buggy at the time and swapped that for a futaba ESC.
After that, I had one of the original PK/Corally stick pack cars that I bought second hand because it was far too expensive to buy brand new! Here's a pic of the same car:

Since then, I have tried a couple of other brands, but after 25 years since having that original Corally car, I still like the brand and recently made a LiPo car for myself that is based on parts supplied by Corally! Here's a pic:

I have quite a few of the older Corally cars including the SP12, 12G, 12GII, 12V, 12X and a couple of the Pro10 cars also.
Keep this thread going guys!!

How has Bob Stormer not posted in this thread yet?
My favorite vintage 12th scaler was the TQ Engineering Eagle. I had every iteration of that car throughout my early career. I'll see if I can dig up a photo. Easily the most original 12th design ever.
PS wingman: Your Lipo Corally is beautiful. Nice work man.

Thank you very much.
I have ran my car with an AE front end, here's a pic of it:

I will probably end up making a GT10 chassis to go with the 12th car next!
Cheers,
Chris.

Personally, I always loved the Corally front beam.
It was always stable. At least on carpet.

Links with race photos would be nice
