Yes, I am talking about final drive ratio...
Im going to use a tekin rspro esc and the novak 17.5 ballistic motor. I took them out of my 22 and in blinky mode on that car I was running around 20 degrees timing on the end bell. I haven't changed it yet. I figured that end bell timing would be something I need to just feel my into once I get it on the track and decide if I need more low end or more top end and see how the motor temps look.

LOL. Already did that. Took it out to the local church parking lot to shake it out and figured out that 20 was not enough really quickly. Also going to need to gear up a bit. Im at 35/78 now. Gonna try a 72T spur. Hopefully they have some pinions in stock Sunday.....

Just a reminder.

Our tentative classes for this racing season will be.
13.5 Tc Blinky
17.5 Tc Blinky
F1 silvercan or 21.5
Mini 2wd silvercan or 21.5
VTA
USGT
(MOD) if people want to run that.
Rookie. (please bring anyone out that you think would be interested in the hobby.)

Also everything is set for Sunday.
I ran 3 test races and they all worked great.
Pop is already bought for the track.
Drills are charged.
So I would say the track will be ready around 10-10:30
Racing will start at 12
Hope to see everyone out.

What's the difference between VTA and USGT? Does it mostly boil down to an aesthetic choice?

VTA uses a 25.5 motor vintage styled tires and a muslce car body from 1960-1970.
USGT is a realistic looking body like GT-R or a Camero. they run 21.5 and a spec slick racing tire.

Here is where you find the Official VTA and USGT rule set used in this area.

Ahh, thanks! I had been to that website and seen the VTA rules but I didn't realize the USGT rules were listed further down on the page.

Anyway, it still seems to me like they are very similar classes. GT is a bit less restrictive, but with the spec tire requirement I would assume it's a fairly level playing field. Is that accurate? What are you guys expecting for turn out for GT vs VTA?

Besides a finer gearing adjustment whats the advantage to using 64P gears?

Yes, VTA and USGT are both "Equally" competative....
just check out the results from the recent US VTA Scale Nationals.... (below)
and both classes have been increasing in turnout pretty steady lately....

So many answers.....

64P you can get a finer gear ratio combination then 48P...and some ppl will say it might have better low-end punch.

But 48P especailly running outdoor you will have less chance to get sand or rock goes in between the tooth and strip the gear...

For ON ROAD...go 64P and start buying all the pinion and spur. But since you are the off roader, get the right 48P spur and pinion and just run it...64P will not get you up from D-main to A-main...that only happen to me.
