That track is ENOUGH to race 1/8th...........if RON (Duneland) is here, he can tell immediately from looking at pic....I would say 4-6 1/8th are capable to race there. Of course, it is considered TIGHT compare to open track like Toledo or Hamilton.

I will bring my 705 835 and 950R....and the worst case, I can race my Xmod on the drag strip...

the lanes are pretty tight for 1/8 in its current configuration. i dont have an 1/8 scale but trust me. he has enough extra space so that it is possible whenever he gets the time to do it. he seems like he is open to ideas and will cater to what people want and he will not pigeon-hole himself into one thing.

besides the tight lanes for 1/8, he will have to rig up a drivers stand for the track. the vertical height is limited because of the structure of the building so it cant be tall like we're used to. he has a basketball style bench that we were using to step on but that is only good for maybe up to 3 average sized guys because its not meant for that. but if he came up with a platform at about that height, you should be able to see fine. for instance, the stand that st. charles had last year was cool height-wise (it just wasnt long enough for 10 guys). he needs something like that but maybe not as tall i suppose.

i guess what i'm getting at is that this spot has some room for improvement to make it "comfortable" for racing but it has a lot of potential. its certainly far better then whats out there at this time - nothing. so i will try to support him as much as i can because he stepped up and made it happen.

For an inexpensive yet very sturdy drivers stand you could use industrial pallet racks:

Very cheap and available used all over the city.

A couple of ladders could be used as steps up onto the drivers stand.

Available headroom will be the biggest factor in deciding how large the track can be made. If the stand can have a 5 or 6' deck height, a large enough(for 1/8) track can be made. Could a layout of 150' X 75' be put in there? Somewhat smaller would still work, but that size would be pretty good for an indoor track. Would be great to have a facillity to race nitro on-road in the winter.
Solara, are you still interested in my IR scoring system?

I don't know the actual dimensions but it looks like 150 x 60 foot track could be set up, with room for expanson. We are not using the entire warehouse floor space. I will be there on Saturday, I'll pay closer attention, and let you know my thoughts. The on-road track reminds me of a full size car street course with concrete barriers bordering the sides. This track uses boards which encourage you to do precise driving moves. It is a tight course, just itching to be expanded, which Underground is planning on doing.

Underground is having a cash race tomorrow Saturday. I believe racing starts at 4pm. The track opens earlier.

CALL 773-308-8344 for details.

The text message that I received indicated that the event was Drag Racing, but definitely cash aswads.

Hmmm....I heard the owner of the track is a teacher (G himself..?) Cash award for drag racing.........not a very legit concept for drag racer, especially for RC racer. (Just my opinon)

Drag racing and money have always gone hand in hand.

not sure what solara means.

Many tracks have a once in a while cash prize race.

I think Leisure recently had one.....

I don't think Underground has a regular cash race.

Oh yeah...what about winning "track bucks" at club races? Same concept isn't it/
