^^it so ugly/primitive looking. Woven carbon looks high tech. Not to mention the warping/tweaking of the tub after a few heat soaks.

The current chassis design is limited by the battery shape/size. If TC can adopt saddle packs, I see the old Pro2 like designs making a comeback.

Thanks to the high capacity 'shorty' lipo batteries, I could see a comeback of saddle pack chassis designs.

You can make any double carbon fibre deck chassis fast, regardless of the year or model. I would look into getting gear differentials and that would be it.

Definite favorite older chassis is the Schumacher MI2. Amazingly, Schumacher still has parts for this car and with the release and subtle redesign of the original Mission into the MI1, anyone can have an old car thats had a factory update.

The shumacher axis 2 would be a cool car to use these days but with a full top deck for carpet.

I remember Paul Lemieux winning a ROAR onroad race with the Schumacher Axis-2. Great car design, and unique to boot.

same here, but you dont need saddle packs for that. a shorty pack will do.
My Pro2 Clone is kicking ass.

TRF 417 gear diff in my dinosaur racer.

Love this thread!

I think a shaft drive car would be brilliant for todays stock classes (21.5t boosted or 17.5 blinky), the torque effect of the motor is much reduced from the old brushed days, a shaft car would give you excellent accleration.

I have been looking for an older car to update for a while, the trouble is (in my opinion) you need to have one that you can use a spool in (with replaceable outputs) and a gear diff.

The only gear diff for a shaft car that i can find is one by SPecR for the Tamiya TB03 so i have been slowly collecting parts for that car, they are still readily available and you can also use the same suspenion components as the 417...so I don't know if its really considered an 'old car'....

I also have some Yokomo SD parts lying about so might do something with those too. Someone was asking about SD parts on here, to get all the SD/CGM parts you need to go to Japan (RC Race & Drift or Banzai) as the SD is still used as a drift car, about 99% of all the parts are still available...plus some new parts that the latest drift car uses.

A Tamiya 414M2 would be my ideal 'old car', but they are tough to find...anyone have one they want shifting

My TL01 around 2010... 11 year old car against HB Cyclones, Tamiya 416s. I was running no boost GTB esc while most were Tekin RS Pro.

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

The TL01 was the noisiest car on track.

I just keep my JRXS-R running. With shorties, this car is awesome.
