Bob, thanks again for you and Tex putting on the program yesterday. Hopefully for next time the transponder system will cooperate. Maybe then, Tex will call me by my correct name each race. I went from Mark (correct), to Steve, to John....good thing the day ended when it did! Great job though, it was a solid program and you had a great schedule of events for the day and gave 5 minute warnings to get on the track for each heat. It was all fun for me!

Hey Mark, thank you! We thought we had all the equipment problems worked out last week, transponder system included. All I can say is next month for sure. Given the problems we had, Tex was really under the gun. We were hard pressed to keep up with everything manually.
We really appreciate everyones patience and cooperation. We tried our best to make sure everyone had a good time, and doing away with the entry fee was our way of showing our appreciation.
Our thanks to all the racers that showed up, Bob.

We will be posting a race schedule later this week that takes us through 2010.
Our intent is to not conflict with racing scheduled for down south.

I'm happy to tell you that the transponder problems that we had at last sundays races have been eliminated, and we are looking forward to a trouble free race day on sunday, 11/08/09.
We will open the track for practice and sign up at 8:00am. Sign up will close at 9:30am, our first heat will start at 10:00am.
Earlier I told you we will be doing some things aimed at helping racers who are relatively new to our hobby. Included in what we have planned will be a track layout that is less technical. We think we can do this with a simple track layout modification that can be done and undone in a short amount of time between races.
Another idea is one or more loaner vehicles available to the newcomers for practice and limited racing at no cost except an entry fee if used for racing.
We have a Slash that we loaned out last weekend to four different racers!
As I have said before, we are doing this to have fun, and that's what we want you to have too!
We hope to see you all again on sunday, 11/08/09.

I'm sure those racers who were at our Hobbytown Track on 10/11/09 remember the fairly substantial crack in the blacktop where the transponder loop was set up. We hope this won't upset anyone, but we will have that repaired before our next race day on 11/08/09.
Our schedule for the remainder of 2009 is on 11/08/09, and 12/06/09.
Our schedule for 2010 is, 01/03/10, 02/14/10, 03/14/10, 04/11/10, 05/09/10, 06/06/10, 07/04/10, 08/01/10, 09/12/10, 10/10/10, 11/07/10, and 12/05/10.
We plan to open the track for practice and sign up at 8:00am, close sign up at 9:30am, close the track for practice at 9:45am, and begin racing at 10:00am.
Hope to see everyone on 11/08/09.

Hey Bob, thanks for the schedule. By the way, are you actually fixing the asphalt on the parking lot where the crack is or are you making a track setup to go around it? Just curious...

Hi Mark, as of 7:30am this morning the crack is gone. A little elbow grease, and some asphalt patch did the trick.

The problem was an intermittent break in the coax cable connection at the decoder. It worked just fine on the track at home before the race. After the race I hooked it up again at home and again it worked fine. That was a pretty good indication of some mechanical problem, not too hard to find after that.

Hey Bob, I just wanted to get this thread back at the top. It sounds like you did a great job on the asphalt work and you troubleshooted the transponder problem so hopefully we will have a good race day on Sunday. See you there!
