Or cheaper yet as a possibility use pvc pipe like they use for onroad.Wood maybe nicer, but more "bang for ya buck" as they say for the pipe.

3" PVC pipe is going to run approx. 20-25$ per 20 feet. A foam noodle will be what..2-3 bucks? Much cheaper, and as was mentioned, cut them in half on a bandsaw and you double your length...

Pvc is way more exspensive.... and can break under hard chassis hits.

Yes and no. Yes, they would work..for a while. They'd be too soft and the dirt would never hold up overtop of them. PVC would hold up, but the cost is the factor. Doug mentioned the corrugated fiberglass roofing material, which would work, but only if you left it bare as the ridges are so shallow that putting dirt on top is only going to smooth it out and not follow the contour on the surface. Otherwise, I'm out of ideas for a rumble strip.

Gotta think outside the box a little bit man. PVC has already been established as too pricey. Trees, although they would work, are in short supply at the track, and bringing them in would be diffcult. Just spit-ballin' ideas.
