Ran the entire weekend (3rd state series race) using the VP 25:1 premix fuel. The car ran great with better fuel economy and lower operating temps. I could have run all three (3) 10 minute qualifiers off one tank alone!! I finished the 30 minute A-main with enough fuel in the tank to go approximately another 10 minutes if necessary. With the pump gas and oil I was using, if the race was 40 minutes, I would not have made it (or anywhere close). I was skeptical at first but now I am sold.

Another Texas state series race for the Sportsline Spec Class is in the books. The competition has really stepped it up with the guys that showed up to run were within seconds of each other during qualifying. I managed to eek out the TQ spot over newcomer to the class Eduardo Romero and one of the Texas 5, Aaron Grant. Come the main, bad pitting stategy on my part as well as good, clean hard running by Eduardo and better pit stategy (pitting near the end of the race) secured Mr. Romero the win in his first every running in the Sportsline Spec Class.

Lets see if he can defend his newly minted crown at the next SWCS race as a few guys that were not able to make this race will be at the next one, stepping the competition level up one more notch.

Most of us are using the Killer/Super Bee kill switch. There are a couple of guys that are using the Dynamite one.

Here is the latest addition to my 5th scale arsenal, thanks to LuisR, a Genius XR 2wd.

It has been a while since I last posted for anything involving 5th scale racing in the state of Texas. Now that I have knocked out a few “behind the scenes things” going on with me, it is time to get back to focusing on some 5th scale racing in Texas.

Now that the Texas state series (SWCS) is winding down and the DFW leg of the series is complete (the track where the 5th scale class is primarily run), the DFW members of the Texas 5 came up with a gameplan to extend racing at the Rendon, Texas track out through mid-November, weather permitting of course. The Texas 5 would like to introduce the forthcoming 5th Scale Fall Brawl series to be held at the track in Rendon. This fall’s series will be a three race affair on the following dates:

Sept 17th
Oct 15th
Nov 12th

Unlike the SWCS races, racing for the event will be held on a single day. It is scheduled to be three qualifiers and a main with racing starting around 9am so that racing will not lag on into darkness. Also, racing will not be limited to just 5th scale cars. These are the other classes that will be included in the racing program:

8th scale 4wd Lola-body
200mm Touring car
8th scale Nitro GT
8th scale Electric GT

For those classes, we will need at least 4 racers per class to show in order consider it a racing class. It will be rocket-round racing just like what many are familiar with that participate in the SWCS. Entry fee will be $35 for the first class, $25 for the second class. Awards will be given at the end of the series. More will be coming in regard to the series.

The fall series that we were planning, starting this month, will be pushed back until spring of 2017. The race days will be test and tune days for those that want to come out and get some track time in.

Had a fun day of practice on 10/21/16. My 4wd FG Sportsline was close to the competition with my 2wd Genius getting there. Marquell and Sam were having some ups and downs with getting their cars dialed in with Sam coming close towards the end of the day with Marquell still working to get his dialed in. The three Texas 5 members will put on a good show for the Cali and international competitors that are in attendance.

Hey b20btec!! Been working on my cars after getting back from a big 5th scale race in Cali. Didn't do well in 2wd open but did fairly well in 2wd/4wd GT class (qualified for the B-main, bumped to the A-main). Working on something with the Cali guys to try to bring more 5th scale racing to Texas. Also trying to expand on what we are doing in 5th scale as well (with and maybe outside the SWCS). If you are interested in joining the group, I could possibly have an available car or two that will be very reasonable price-wise and would be almost race-ready (will probably need your own Tx/RX).

It has been a while since I have updated the 5th scale posting. Been making a few inroads with the Cali 5th scale crowd as well as working on a few things for the 5th scale class in Texas for 2017. Sam, Marquell, and I had a blast racing with the Cali and international guys in Gardena, CA October 21-23, 2016 and can't wait to hit this race up again next year.

If anyone is interested in joining the 5th scale spec class for next year, I have three (3) FG 4wd Sportsline Spec cars that are class/race ready; just add your Tx/Rx and you are ready to hit the track. Yes, they all have the Super Killer Bee failsafes installed. Two are the 530mm long chassis cars with 4-door Audi A4 bodies and one is the short 510mm short chassis with the Porsche GT3 chassis (this one comes with a Tx/RX and is track ready). I will get some pics of each car posted soon. PM me if interested.

Here is some of the raw video footage from the 5th Scale International Challenge back in October. This is a short clip from practice day on 10/21/16.
