You didn't gear down enough for the 7x1. The Final Drive (FDR) for the 8x1 looks to be about 9.1 where as we have found 7x1 like to be down around a 9.75 FDR. This is about a 0.725" rollout.

Do you know what would work to mount a fan on the endbell of a Ti3? One that has maybe has standoffs. I have seen a clip on motor cooler heatsink that was made to mount a fan, but do not know who makes it. It looked functional and efficient.

Hey Donny, sorry that took so long bro..... Here's a pic of how I had Jeff Brown mount his fan:
About the fan: We spent all of today testing down a Mikes Hobby shop in carliton Texas, on a HUGE carpet track, 100x60….. One of my main goals today was to test out how well the fan helped to dissipate from the brush hood. Well come to find out that fan did more than I had previously thought, a difference of 45 degrees was noted on 3 consecutive runs. All of which were different armatures and gearings.
The picture attached is by far the best way to mount up a fan for cooling the brushhoods and such. The associated one however blows directly onto the terminals and does not offer cooling for the hood itself.

Curtis...I have my fan blowing top down to keep the solder joints cool and to blow air on to the comm though the endbell opening. Is it more important to cool the hoods or the comm?

Adrian: Eliminating the heat at the point of origin so that it cannot spread to other areas of the endbell just seems like commonsense to me. From the data collected I would venture to say this is the best way to keep the endbell cool….

CURTIS!!!! What up sucka? Looks like things are going pretty good for you & DC Motors. How are you setting up your V2's? I haven't been able to get mine to run all that great. What do you suggest for 7 & 8 turns for timing, springs and brushes? Also, what gearing would you use for a track a little smaller than Tamiya? Thanks, MO.
