I just placed an order #2028. Can you verify if the addy is diff. from what I put on the account on the website? The one on the acc. is my home. The one on Paypal should be my work. If not no biggie. Just send to home addy. Thank You.

You CAN buy a legal handwound 19T motor with a tag.

Begs the question, "Legal for what?"

ROAR rule 8.6.9 re: 19-turn super stock motors (on- and off-road) specifies arm MUST be machine wound. I'd copy and paste the rule here, but the ROAR site has 'em in .pdf so no can copy. You'll have to take my word for it or look it up yourself.

The rules also put limits on balancing, banning epoxy balancing and limiting holes drilled for balance purposes (seemingly making "slots" illegal too).

They DO indicate oval are treated differently, and a 19-turn "modified" motor can certainly be re-wound, etc as any mod motor.

The key here is that any "real" 19-turn class you see are the "super stock" rules ala IIC, etc.

Scott,

Oval MUST be a little different cause we run handwound adjustable timing motors at every roar race I've ever attended, also at the local level.Every 19T motor I have is handwound and tagged and perfectly legal for roar competition, except the ones I've bought from Brood, which are not tagged,I was quite surprised when I received them without a tag,and am not sure I will be able to run them? They DO spin up quite nicely though.

I did a little more looking on the ROAR rules. The oval motors are treated as Mod other than no mixing of components from other mfrs.

Rule 8.8.3.3 which allows hand-winding of mod motors specifies the armature must "bear a mark or tab identifying the armature and winder. Example: NAME 19X1, NAME 19T. Marks may include etching or engraving of the armature stacks and/or tags epoxied between the stack spacing"

Which seems to allow for a number of marking schemes besides actual tags, but surprising to me, it seems the tag NAME 19T could be used for either a super stock or mod motor. Perhaps the good Brood-ites can shed some light here.

IIRC oval allows hand-wind armatures upto 19AWG wire, the faster 19T arms have 18.5 or 18 AWG wire which is not allowed. You may have received the latter which are illegal.

We engrave them, which is 100% ROAR legal for the oval stuff.....you can tag them also, but to avoid any worries about people using our arms the wrong way, we don't tag anything....

Oval has a completely different set of 19t rules, as ROAR did not want to mess with their alreadys small racing scene, so they kept the handwound adjustable timing stuff.

if your club allows handwound 19T then yes, they are much better than the machine wound version. we can tune the motors for whatever application you want.

my golf is 1993 A3 body style, 2.0L 8V. Eurosport intake, H&R Cup Suspension, custom exhaust system with high-flow cat and magnaflow straight thru muffler. gotta clean out my garage so i can start building the new motor
